Best hotel for visit?

We will be visiting 2 nights in early April from CA to look at the campus, can anyone recommend what a good hotel for us? we would love something unique or in a great location for the school. We do need at least 2 beds since it is an adult and two teen boys… thank you!

The school has recommended lodging including special rates for visits. https://www.uvm.edu/admissions/undergraduate/visit_us/directions_and_lodging

We went to an accepted students visit back in Feb. and stayed in a hotel on Williston Rd. in South Burlington (southeast of campus). Our hotel was near the Double Tree where we were told to park for the day and take a university-provided shuttle bus to campus. There are several hotels in that area on the list, but it is a really commercial and busy area. You will not get the quaint feeling of the town, but it is a short drive to campus.

There are other hotels to the west of campus in Burlington closer to the water, like the Hilton and Courtyard Marriott. From there, you can walk to restaurants, but are still probably a mile or more from campus. Plus, it appears that hotels in that area may be slightly pricier.

We ate at Pho Hong, which is a small, inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant that serves noodles, soups and other such dishes. The food was really good, and my daughter had a chance to see UVM students out on the town, including a couple on their first date talking about some biological research they were doing that impressed my daughter. It seemed to be mostly student run and frequented.

It really depends what you want. Our first visit, and for move in was at the Sheraton (now a Doubletree) think that’s walkable from campus and has a free shuttle. After move in and on subsequent visits we’ve gone the inn/bnb route but with a college kid and a lot of stuff that wasn’t the right choice.

Agree that the hotels closer to the water are often quite a bit more $.
