Best IVY ARTS

I am looking to apply to an Ivy league to pursue either international business or premed, however I still wish to attain a multiple major/minor in Film and Music. I was wondering a) which Ivy is best for music? b) which Ivy is best for film? I was also wondering about any other schools which have really strong academics and prestige, but with strong film and music departments. Thanks a lot for the guidance.

yale, brown.

Cornell has a thriving arts scene; Yale does too but it's overshadowed by the grad school of drama (this is what turned me off to Yale actually when I visited). Brown has a great music and theatre scene. If you watch the Office, the guy that plays Jim was an improv coach at Brown for one of their troupes.

H - maybe
Y - yes if you don't mind grownups
P - not sure
Col - well, it's in NYC but there's no drama program
Dart - not really
Cornell - absolutely. One of the major benefits of Cornell's size.
Penn - not sure
Brown - yes.

on the surface, princeton is usually recognized first for its strong math/engineering departments.

but recently, the university received a generous (ie: $101 million) alum endowment geared solely towards the creative arts.

well known poet and professor, Paul Muldoon, is spearheading the initiative.. and it has been said that admissions is starting to look for/accept more artsy, "green-haired" applicants.

their creative writing program is already top-notch.

as for visual arts though, yale is hard to top. if you ever visit new haven, definitely check out the art museum. it was under renovation when I was there, but the floors that were open.. were amazing.

ok shoot one more thing before CC kicks me off for scrolling....

know a boy who is graduating from brown this year, and he was/is very much into the film scene. that said, he had a wonderful experience there, and is very complimentary of what they have to offer to those who seek that direction.

i mean RISD is down the hill afterall.

Among LACs, Wesleyan for strong academics, film and music. (Prestige is relative. I'd say it has it, but it's not an in your face kind of prestige like HYP.)

Williams for strong academics, music and good connections for business and medical school. Film courses are available and there are some good professors teaching them but it's definitely not a specialty.

columbia, princeton, yale, penn

USC is perhaps best in the nation in both film and music...

definitely has a ton of prestige in those fields.

Doesn't Harvard have some program with a conservatory or something? Brown's pretty good as well (i believe) plus Providence has a thriving indie scene (home of load records!)
