best meal plan

So with 14 premiere, and you're swiping smoothies you get less than 2 meals a day from the dining halls.

Who eats on-campus every time every day?

I'm getting the 11... I seriously hope I won't starve.

Probably not. Do you plan on going home a lot?

Guys, let me tell you a secret: Jose Bernstein's, Enzo's, Italian Express all deliver fairly late.

Now don't get fat my little Bruins! :)

"And I believe, at least a little bit, that as your elder (I'm being pretentious, shush)..."

Little Bruins? xD

No, I don't plan on going home a lot. I'm from San Jose, 6 hours drive... haha. Well, at first I was planning on getting the 14, but my mom talked me into getting 11 (to save money), and it kinda makes sense. When I eat a lot for lunch, I usually don't eat much for dinner. So wouldn't it kinda be a waste to swipe my card and end up eating a few bites only?

I don't really get how the other on campus fast food resturants work though... say if I want to buy a sandwich, or a burger. When I swipe my card, does that take away from the meal plan? Or do you also have to put money in the card to use as credit or something?

If cost is a concern, it's actually cheaper to get the dorm food than food outside. For example, with 19 regular over 14 regular you're getting 5 more meals per week for only $100 the whole year.

So getting the 11 and eating out a lot doesn't exactly save costs.

Eating on-campus is NOT a swipe. It's cash only as of right now. The best you can do is get breakfast and bag some food in the blue bag that nobody ever uses.

dyip10 is right. Get 14 if you never go home. You'll probably save money.

"eating on-campus is NOT a swipe."

so the dining hall meals aren't on campus?

...

Stupid language vagueries. I meant eating anywhere NOT ON THE HILL.

There, not get off my back, you Bruins.

er forgive me if i sound a bit dumb, but ive never been to ucla before, and exactly what is the "hill?" is it where all the res. halls/dining halls are located at?

"The Hill" is the semi-official way of referring to where all the dorms are. It starts at Dykstra-De Neve and ends at Hedrick Summit.

And yes, it's really a hill. An annoying, steep, unavoidable hill.

collegegirlgirl, I think UCLAri means "on-campus" food as in food on campus (excluding dorm food) such as food in the food court.

Beat ya to it, dyip, but thanks. :)

i was gonna get the 14p because i liked the pizza for four swipes deal. but when i was accepting my housing offer i found out that 19p is only 150 more bucks actually it is somewhat less. so yeah i was like umm it doesn't matter, 150 a year isn't that big one would probably spend more at jamba juice or starbucks in two months so yeah it isn't that big and i chose 19p.

what options do you have outside of dorm food? Is it common to go to koreatown or other places to get food?

also i havent quite crunched in numbers yet but i know sooner or later i am gonna find out if $1.65 per swipe to buy fast food is actually worth the total money if oyu have extra swipes left.

Koreatown is FAR. I did, however, make regular trips down to Sawtelle Dr. to go to an area dubbed "Little Osaka" so I could eat Japanese food.

There's also a decent little Persian strip on Westwood.

Can someone please explain to me about premiere and pizza?

If you have premier/premiere (I'm not sure which it is...), then you go online, give them your UID (ID #), and then they take four swipes. At the time you specified your order to be ready, you go to Rieber dining, and voila! Rubber pizza!
