@Lydiara I’m not sure if the more successful AMDA grads (there are 40 on Broadway right now in various shows as well as national tours) were 2 or 4 year graduates and if they transferred. AMDA has a 2 year conservatory in both NY and LA, and a 4 yr BFA in LA only. The 2 yr conservatory students are able to transfer between the two cities at the beginning of a school year (i.e. after 2 semesters). The BFA students in LA are able to go to NY for 3rd semester ONLY due to BFA gen ed requirements that can only be fulfilled in LA (they can only take performance classes in NY). This is what my son is doing this summer and thanks to the A.P. English Lit test score he received in high school he won’t be behind when he returns to LA for 4th semester. So I guess it all depends on if you want the conservatory certificate (NY or LA) or the BFA (LA only) which campus you should attend. I understand the frustration at not being able to find current opinions about AMDA as most comments on CC and other review sites are more than 5 years old. All I can tell you is that we are happy with the program he decided to attend. Hope this helps.
@Lydiara I’m sorry I don’t know anything about those programs! I’m happy that @CAMTMom2019 is able to answer some AMDA questions!
Millikin University has produced other stars beside Sierra Boggess. As for Sierra, it doesn’t get any better than to be hand picked by Andrew Lloyd Webber for the role that was written for his wife. Guess the poster has never heard of Jodi Benson (Ariel in both The Little Mermaid movies), Christian music artist Mathew West, Annie Wersching, Tad Hilgenbrink , Annamary Dickey, Hedy Burress, and several on American Idol. The university has the best choral fleet out there. Campus bands and small ensembles regularly get record deals. They are also part of the new musical workshop. The program itself is incredibly strong.
