Best of 3 in MA.?

My S has been accepted to Endicott, Western New England College and Stonehill.
Anybody got thoughts on which is the best? He will be majoring in Business with a minor in Communications.
I can't seem to find many stats on WNEC but when we visited it seemed great and was probably his favorite.
Thoughts please...?

Are these community colleges or accredited 4 year schools? I haven’t heard of any of these.

Also note, I would suggest not paying out of pocket for these schools, as the degree is not worth much. Hopefully your son recieved a good amount of scholarship money so that you won’t have to borrow or spend cash. Not sure they are worth spending cash to attend.

Degree not worth much?..little harsh there. Stonehill was ranked #105 in USnews LAC rankings.

I thought Stonehill was fairly well known and yes, it is #112 (2010) ed. of US News LAC rankings. WNEC is about to become a University in July. Endicott was a bit of an outsider but we really liked it on our visit. Yikes, hoping for a good FA package, which he did get from WNEC. Still has to hear from Bowdoin where one of our other son goes.

I had heard about WNEC becoming a university. What exactly does that mean to someone considering going there? I mean, PC, Stonehill and many other great colleges might still be considered more well-known despite not being universities.

Stonehill is probably a little better known and probably has a slighty stronger students overall. That said all 3 schools are pretty regional which is fine if your son is interested in working locally after graduating. If this were my son I’d ask him about fit to see if he liked one school much more than the others … the schools are similar enough to each other that I would tend to go with his fit preference (or a big difference in cost of attendence)

My opinion as a former prep school teacher and administrator from MA - Stonehill is the best of the 3 by a good measure.

informative,

Once again you spout ridiculous nothings. The fact you never heard of them doesn’t mean anything. I vote Stonehill.

Informative bashes any school but BC. He must be one of those hard drinking alkies at BC.

OK, so informative is, um, biased. But I still think that

is a little harsh. I don’t know any of these schools, but you son won’t be doomed to spending his whole life in the same place as his college. After your first job, they just want to know if you can do the job. A college that is unheard of will not ruin his life.

^Agreed. The attitude displayed by informative does not represent the attitude of most people. I would say that Stonehill is probably the strongest academically, but I have a friend at Endicott who loves it, so it seems like it would be a fine choice as well. I unfortunately don’t know much about WNEC, though.

Thanks to those posting useful comments! We moved here from the UK and so this is a huge learning curve all round. Sometimes it’s good not to have any preconceived ideas about certain schools but it makes the process very long with so much to choose from.
My other sons had more idea about what they wanted and where they were headed, so this time round we have had more work to do! Wish I had discovered this website years ago. We are up in Maine so those campus tours can take a lot of planning! I just wanted to say that it has been great experiencing the “community” feel of CC. Americans are overwhelmingly kind and helpful, especially to Brits ??!!!

Stonehill is run by the same Catholic religious order as Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN and is well known in the Boston area and has a solid reputation there. It is by far the best of those three.
