I'm a junior at UCF and I've lived on campus long enough to desire not to anymore. I'm going up to Orlando next weekend to look for an off campus apt and hopefully sign a lease. The apt ratings site I don't trust, so I figured I'd come here:)

Which off campus (furnished) apts are the best? Safest? Car thefts/break ins? Best amenities? By amenities, I don't care about anything too crazy, but a tennis and bball court are a plus. Also, how's the roommate matching off campus?

I've searched a few of them online and I'm pretty sold on Northgate Lakes at the moment. anyone live(d) there? I appreciate your opinions and advice. Thanks!

I’m a transfer student and I signed a lease at Sterling Central. It’s definitely more expensive than the other complexes I looked into but I liked how there is a parking garage with guaranteed parking for each resident. It’s a really nice looking place also and one building just opened this month and the other one, which i’m living in, is only a year old.

I haven’t lived in Northgate, but I lived in Tivoli last year. The shuttle to campus would stop at Tivoli and Northgate, so I’ve seen Northgate many times. It seems really nice to me. I would probably be living there this year if I wasn’t studying abroad. It’s cheap and close to campus. It just has too many speed bumps.

Thanks, both of you guys/girls for the input:) I ended up signing a lease with Sterling Central today (or yesterday since it’s past midnight now lol). Ambsy91 I’m going to be in phase 1 also, so I’ll probably see you there!

hey purple, im wondering if u know if there is still rooms available in sterling, im hoping to transfer and this weekend i will go up for apartment hunting an had my eye on this one, do u have any idea if there is still rooms, i want to live alone, i hope there is still one bedrooms still available.

Tiggers, when I was there I got to choose which 4/4 apt I wanted, so there were a few available since Saturday…not sure about now. I think the rep said that the 1/1’s were full but I may be wrong.

The rep also mentioned that the ones that the first floor apts are more expensive (and thus more available), so most likely if most spaces fill up you can get in there. If there are 1 bedrooms on that floor you may get lucky. Also, they waive the application & move in fees, so you only pay the first months rent when you sign the lease.

I recommend calling Sterling Central and asking if they have any openings before you go up there. Good luck with your search!

I took a tour at several places and my fav. place was Campus Crossing at College Station. However, I signed a lease with Campus Crossing at Alafaya because it’s like a town home and it’s cheaper.

My friends and I read the ratings for this place weeks after and lord and behold, we are terrified for our lives. We didn’t think to read the ratings before signing because we were sold, after going through the tour and seeing the price (cheapest price yet.) But I’m scared and terrified and don’t know what to make of this situation. I hear there are cockroaches and mold!!! COCKROACHES AND MOLD!!

Anyway just wondering, but does any on CC live there or moving in this weekend? I’m so scared!
