Military seem to like University of Marlyand University College, you should be a sure in with that undergrad gpa. It is AACSB accredited as well. Not sure if it’s completely online, but again a lot of military do online studies with them overseas as well as domestically all over t he states.

I looked into UMUC and it’s not AACSB accredited. How are small schools regarded if they have AACSB accreditation? I have the chance to go to a lesser kown state university here in Florida that is accredited bythe AACSB. The classes are all in person and it’s local and convenient. How would it look on my resume especially if I would like to find my way to the Boston area some day?

Oops, I’m a lazy googler

I wouldn’t go to a school that is not AACSB for MBA.

Yeah I wouldn’t either. But if the school is AACSB accredited but relatively unheard of, what is its value on a resume? Would I be better off getting the accreditted no-name MBA or the MSM or an MS in ops management from a school that people have heard of? I don’t really have lofty business goals, but I would like to make a humble $80K some day.

I would prefer the state school over an online school. The MBA is really built around experiences of those in class with you, not just for networking but for reflections and interpretations of case material and business issues. You will miss this online.

State schools, however, generally have better local clout. However, with your military experience + MBA I don’t see how it would be a problem.

Hey, ASU’s WP Carey online MBA program is accredited, ranked, and lots of employers are familiar with the name.

My wife picked Northeastern because the program is very flexible for working people and can be stopped and started without having to worry about separating from your cohort. Also there’s no on campus residency requirements which is great because we’re military too. The other online MBA programs she looked at were Colorado, Penn State, and Suffolk. ASU is also supposed to be good and so is Thunderbird. Auburn is also good, but they have a lot of prereqs to jump through. All I think are accredited which is the key. One of the Florida schools has an online program as well, I forget which one. One that isn’t accredited (ie. phoenix, strayer, devry) aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.

Dang it, I fell for the old resuscitated thread trick.

“Best” is very subjective. So without clearer criteria, it is hard to say.

You have a good GPA; however I notice that your undergraduate degree is from ERAU (I went there for a year). The issue that you may run into is that if you get into an AACSB accredited MBA program, they may not waive your foundation courses…even if you took them at ERAU. For example, even if you took accounting 101 at ERAU…your MBA program may have you do it again. This can put the credit requirements for an MBA up around 54 credits; a big leap from a 30 credit program!
