Best option for Wall Street/Investment Banking

Hello,

I am a senior who is about to graduate high school. I am currently having a hard time deciding which school I should attend. My goal is to try and work on Wall Street or become an investment banker (other similar jobs as well).

Currently I am deciding between attending either the University of Florida or UCLA. If I attended the University of Florida, I could major in finance, economics, or marketing. If I attended UCLA, I will have to major in economics or business economics. UCLA does not have a finance major.

Which school should I choose and why? I know that UCLA is the better school (and also apparently a semi-target school), but I can I still make it to Wall Street or become an investment banker with an economics degree? Or would I have a better chance with a finance degree at the University of Florida?

All advise and help is appreciate.

Which degree you get is really not important. Business, finance, econ, whatever, any of them can get you to Wall Street. What employers are going to want to see is internship experience in the field and a degree from a respectable school.

If you want Wall Street, then it’s probably a better idea to go to the best school you can, given reasonable conditions. Bust your butt to get good grades, be involved in leadership positions, and get internships in banking.

Although neither is really a main target for investment bank recruiting, UCLa.
