I don’t have answers but my son was deferred ED and then waitlisted in the regular round and ultimately decided to decline that waitlist. Fortunately he was admitted elsewhere with good aid. It gave him a sense of empowerment to say enough, you had your chance, I’m rejecting you. He has more than thrived at his chosen school. Give them a little time to recover and help them to move on by looking forward to other options.
