Original Ray's is definitely the most famous - you have probably seen it in passing in many, many movies. The pizza is good, by the slice. But people in New York will often tell you that the best Pizza is John's Pizza on Bleeker street, or its main rival, right across the street, aptly named (I think) Bleeker Street Pizza. The problem with these places is that they only sell whole pizzas so you can't just duck in for a slice. You sort of have to live in the area. But you know what, even mediorce pizza in that area is about 300% better than the best pizza in most of the rest of the United States. Just eat pizza every day!!

CenterUSdad--I am trying to get a list of pizza suggestions near NYU since my S is going to visit a buddy at NYU later this week. I had posted a similar thread in the Parents Cafe. The place with the greatest number of positive statements (and it was a landslide) was John's on Bleeker Street. I was hoping to get NYU people's opinion.

I would deff say John's on Bleeker. It is really damn good. But, if your son is on a budget, there is a place on St. mark's that sells slices for a dollar.

Also, not that it is pizza, but I would deff recommend that your son goes and checks out Aroma on Houston and Greene. It is arguably the best coffee shop in the world!
