best places to study on campus

considering finals are just days away...anyone have any good places to study-both individually and then in groups?

For groups, either studying the same stuff or just to be around other people, I like the basement of Lafun. Depending on where you live, that might not be the best though. I live really close so I like it. For studying alone and being more productive, I like the window seats in the library. Basically any floor is good, although it can be really hard to find an open spot. That's where I'm writing this from, in fact.

ok thats really weird because i'm sitting at a desk in the library..window seat

Apparently they are opening up parts of the Dining halls for studying during finals week...I don't really know what that is all about though.

Como is usually my standby. The library is really far for me so I hardly ever get up there.

If you are alone the basement of the library is my favorite. You have to get there early for a table, but the table is all yours once you snag it. For groups, probably somewhere in the dorms.

LaFun is cool for groups, since you can make noise and such. I use the basement of the library when I just need to work on some stats or something, because I just find the open atmosphere better to get some work done, and then when I am bored just look around or whisper to a friend (same goes with dorm study rooms). When I need to read a lot, or study something intensively, then the library in one of the corners is the way to go. Only thing that sucks is that this library really lacks windows (even the ones you mention are really tiny and few in between).

For quiet studying, check out the library in Bond Hall, the Architecture building. Be warned, though - it's creepily quiet.

A lot of times the classroom buildings are open, like DeBartolo and O'Shag, and you can usually just snag a classroom. Great for group studying. Technically, you have to register for it, but the worst they can do is tell you to leave, and I've never had anyone tell me to leave. Find one of the seminar rooms with the big table on the first floor or the smaller classrooms upstairs. There're also bathrooms and vending machines, and you don't have to worry about finding room or people stealing your spot.

i've heard you can reserve a room in flanner...anyone know anything about this?

12th floor of the Hesburgh.

i must say. i've fallen in love with my little spot on the 2nd floor. been here literally all day

Well, I'm not sure of the second floor, although I'm sure it's equally tranquil as the 12th floor, I have never seen anyone up there. It just seems more out of the way. I mean you would have to push a way higher number on the elevator. I wish I could study there, I'm studying for my high school finals...in my room.

I hate the elevators in the library, always makes my ears pop!
