What does everybody think is the best school for poli sci. in new york state? Im probably going to go to a SUNY school like Albany or Buffalo next year and I was wondering how they rate and how the other SUNY schools rate for undergrad poli sci. Even though I cant really afford a private school, Syracuse is supposed to be good but are there any other good private poli sci schools in the state?

U of Rochester, Cornell

Unquestionably Cornell.

Of the SUNYs, Stony Brooke is the one that is strong in Political Science...top 25 nationally. But the three strongest programs in the state are Columbia, Cornell and Rochest...all private schools.

SUNY Albany has very good internship opportunities as Albany is the state capitol. I'm sure as a poli sci major, you'd be able to get some interesting experiences working in Albany. Also don't overlook U of Roch. as they are pretty generous with merit awards. U of R knocks off $5000 of tuition if you are a NYS resident and an additional $5000 if you score high on the SAT. In the past a score of 1350 usually got you the merit award. Three colleges at Cornell--Labor Relations--Human Ecology and Ag. & Life Sciences offer a lower tuition rate (approx $17,000 )for NYS residents . My d is in the ILR program at Cornell. If you are interested in poli sci and Law School, you should def. look into the Cornell program. Good luck.

Right on Marny. Cornell's ILR program is an amazing Law school feeder.
