Chemistry:
I am SUPREMELY weak in chemistry! Only class I got a B for one semester but I was very lucky since I always got D's, C's, and F's in most tests. I just couldn't get the concepts into my brain and apply them into test questions. I need a book that is comprehensive but not too much with irrelevant details like I hear Barron's does. I had barron's for first SAT Chem test and I got a 640 (Filled half the questions and guessed on half those that I answered). Wanting to improve to a 750 or above for the October/November test.

Math II:
I am great at Math! Only problem is making stupid mistakes but having multiple choices will hopefully eliminate this problem. Just finished math analysis this year (my school doesn't offer pre-calc although I hear the two are basically the same thing). Need lots of practice tests but also a few guides on how to solve the problems.

English Lit:
Great at English but just need motivation to really study for something like this since I hear it is very complex. Actually I need motivation in general for English because I find it really easy despite being Asian lol :) SAT scores for the CR portion of the practice tests are around 700-740 (if that helps a little) but I'm trying to raise it to somewhere between 760-800 by the end of the summer. Need lots of help for this since I didn't take English Lit at all previously since it's for my upcoming senior year. A few tests to help me get started and feel what the test is like.

Any suggestions?

Also, I already took SAT USH and got a 740. It's a decent score but I'm not going to retake it cuz it's in the mid 700s, which is what I wanted. If I take all the three SAT tests that I want to take, I fear that I might seem a little overbearing to college admittance people from what I've been reading because the requirement is only two. So if you think I should cut down the number, what do you think should I cut out? Math II or English Lit? (I need Chemistry to improve since some of the colleges I will apply to don't offer score choice)

Or unless you think I should take all three so that I can have more options to send what scores to the colleges??

BUMP please!! I need to buy the books as soon as possible. I think I’ll make another one in a few days if no one answers but I tried to provide some reasons for certain types of prep books

Chemistry: PR and Barron’s. I first only used PR and was skeptical of everyone’s telling me to use Barron’s because there’s always so much unnecessary information in Barron’s. But, a few days before the subject test, I got Barron’s as well and found it to be great.
I got an 800 and I doubt I would have if not for Barron’s. The practice tests in Barron’s are really hard but they’re the best at helping you learn. PR practice tests are extremely accurate to the actual thing.

Math Level 2: Get PR and Barron’s. (again, lol) PR has the best review section out of all of the books I’ve tried. Barron’s is good at helping you get the tough problems. Then get the official CB book for the Math Subject Tests. There are two official previously administered tests and they’ll help you greatly because you’ll see actual problems and where you stand and what you need to review. I got an 800 and I owe it to the official tests. There were lots of problems on the test that showed up and that I knew how to do because I saw them in the previously administered tests. I went through the official tests like 3 times and made sure I could do each problem and understood all the concepts in the tests.

My advice for your situation: Drop Lit. I currently have a 760 in CR and I know there’s no way I could score the score I want on Lit (800) so I did not take it or am not planning on taking it. Take Math Level 2. Don’t retake US History. (It’s a great score and will be sufficient for any college.)

Three subject tests in the 700s (preferably the upper 700s) is really all that’s needed.

Think of subject tests as something you have to “check off” for the admissions process rather than something that’ll hook you in.

Subject tests are rather easy and I know universities aren’t really impressed with 800s on subject tests. They’re just required as a sort of check on your academic status.

Rahul already said everything xD

But yeah, I second what he said. Barron’s is definitely good enough for math II since you’ll feel much better on the actual test after doing more difficult problems (you’ll also work faster).

And yep, you really don’t need anymore than 2 subject tests, and since you took USH already and are planning to take chem and math II, don’t do lit. I got a 760 as well on the CR portion of the SAT, but I doubt I could get above 700 right now on lit. It’s very much different from CR. Much, much different.

Alright thank you very much!
One thing tho: Isn’t PR infamous for having so many mistakes in its content? Or is this just for the SAT reasoning test and doesn’t apply to the subject tests?
