I really want to do well on the PSAT. Is it necessary to get a tutor for PSAT prep?

A vast majority of people who do exeptionally well on the psat/sat (230/2300+) do not have tutors or go for prep programs. There isnt much difference between psat and sat so might as well jsut get sat prep stuff. Just get the book “Official Sat Guide” refered to as the “Blue Book” and work your way through it then do all 10 practice tests under time. Eventually try to find your weakness; If vocab is a problem: try the vocab book Direct Hits. If it is Writing, check out Silverturtle’s writing guide post (its amazing). If you still need more practice get the Barron Workbooks for the subjects you want. Honestly the expression practice makes perfect is essential for psat/sat. Try to be consistent and not distracted; cramming doesn’t work. Sat skills are built over time and with practice. Hope I helped ^^ Good luck.

Princeton review doesn’t have that many exercises. Kaplan isn’t good for vocabulary. Barron has a lot of exercises and practice tests.

What grade are you currently in?

Barron and REA are nice. Just don’t get Gruber… it’s horrendous.
