Best state to live in

Philadelphia because NYC, Washington DC, the Jersey Shore, the Six Flags in New Jersey (has the world’s scariest roller coaster), and Washington DC are all within driving range.

WA. Beautiful cloudy weather (not kidding) and it really doesn’t rain that much. Summer weather is usually pretty awesome: sunny around 75 degrees most days (except for today, which is cloudy). Finally, all the vegetation remains green in the summer because of the moisture of previous seasons!

Michigan, as it justifies complaining about everything.

California also has UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, Caltech, good beauty salons, good shopping centers, a variety of restaurants which, too, are as good as the shopping centers, Signal Hill, Hollywood, Disneyland, a diverse culture, Malibu Beach, Catalina Island, San Francisco, and has some of the top high schools in the nation (Troy, Whitney High, CAM, etc.). People here in California are not as superficial as some people in New York also.

And how could I forget? KOBE BRYANT AND THE LAKERS.

I like Illinois because of Chicago (duh!). Even if you don’t want to live in the city, the suburbs have Metra which makes it pretty easy and convenient to get downtown. Once you get down there, there’s plenty to do (museums, beaches, shopping, etc.). Plus, nothing beats a good Chicago style hot dog. :D

Maybe not the best place to live, but I haven’t seen any state more beautiful than West Virginia.

PA — center of everything + arguably the birthplace of America… Philly

California, but NORTHERN California. I agree about all the bad stuff for SoCal :)

comes down to Massachusetts, NY, and Cali. There are a lot of runner ups like Illinois, Texas, Michigan. If I had to pick one id probably be MA

No. Massachusetts is possibly the worst state. That’s why everyone goes up to Maine in the summer.

Martin Mull used to say Massachusetts will be a nice place once they finish it.

The Jersey Shore cast are from New York actually.

Massachusetts is gorgeous in all seasons, and I <3 boston.

Minnesota - boating, skiing, tubing, swimming, fishing all summer. Nice weather in fall and spring. Gets cold in winter, but pond hockey is so fun to play every day.

another top choice - colorado

it definently does depend on where you live in the state though

I don’t mind cold weather, but when I heard about folks in MN having to use electric heaters on their cars over night to keep them operational, I decided that was just a little cooler than I wanted.

Texas is not a great state.

Well, it depends, actually. I take that back. Where I live it’s horrible. In the bigger cities, like Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, or Houston, it’s pretty awesome. The Gulf Coast is fun, and East Texas is gorgeous.

Out of all of the states I’ve been too, I’d have to say I LOVED New York City or Maine.

I’d argue Boston would be more the “birthplace of America” if a city had to be picked. Or at least the birthplace of the American Revolution. Not the Constitution, though.

I live in Florida. It’s nice here. South Florida, specifically. Near the beach, on the east coast. Cool place to live. The Gulf Stream is around a mile offshore (as opposed to hundreds, when you go up north), the water is warm, clear, and all sorts of stuff like that. Best state? Don’t know, but it’s a good place to be. Downside: One of the worst states for education.

In Missouri, you get a little bit of everything. The weather is awfully hot in the summer, pretty cold in the winter, but nothing beats spring here. Some cities like Kansas City and St. Louis are large, urban areas. Then you have medium sized cities like Springfield or Columbia. Then you have a bunch of little towns all over the state. There’s bunch of pro sports teams (Royals, Blues, Cardinals, Rams) all around the state. There’s tourist attractions like the Lake of the Ozarks, the STL Arch, and the city of Branson (Las Vegas if it were run by Ned Flanders, according to Bart Simpson).

A downside is that Mizzou isn’t that great of a public flagship university, but it’s decent enough. Missouri State is alright too, and there’s a lot of directional state universities to go around. But Wash U is in the state and is at least close to home if you go there.

^^ Jacksonville FTL. It’s turning into Detroit with all the killings going on.

^ one of my friends moved up to Maine from Jacksonville because it was too violent
Maine ftw - only mentally insane people commit crimes here :]
