I hate California. SoCal specifically. A bunch of idiotic, superficial people, terrible weather with no seasons [and hardly an rain], pollution, and just general ickyness.

You will find superficial people everywhere you go.

That basically summed up what I was about to type, thanks. c:

I always thought california was the “dream state” with celebrities and all. But I have never been there.

I live in Norcal. I do agree that SoCal is not an ideal place to live. My town is relatively nice (except for the overwhelming number of conservatives). But this is a really random post…

And as far as terrible weather goes… SoCal is always sunny and hot. Where I live it’s either scorching hot or freezing cold (yes, 40 degrees is freezing for me).

@Custardapple101: It is actually pretty terrible here. Don’t ever come here, ever!

I’ve lived in a LOT of places and now reside in SoCal (L.A.) for 6 months a year. I. hate. it.

I am a 3rd generation native Californian from the S.F. Bay Area, who moved to South Orange County CA 8 years ago from Northern CA. I resided in Northern CA for 50 years before moving south. I find the people in both ends of the state to be extremly gracious. Many of the residents are transplants from other states. Sure, there are bad apples in every crate but I can find bad apples everywhere-- if I want to. The amount of political conservatives in the area I live is far greater than in my previous town up north. This would be the only thing that I wish I could change somewhat.

No. It is worse in New York.
Lol where do you all you other Californians live? Where I live, the people are down-to-earth and definitely not superficial… Maybe that’s because we’re studying all the time for the SATs and APs all the time…

How can you hate California? The UC system dominates all other state college system and we have UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Caltech and Stanford to add to that. Nearly half of the top-ranked high schools are also in California, like Troy, Whitney, Oxford, Palo Alto, and CAM. We have beautiful beaches, great shopping malls, restaurants, and beauty salons, Hollywood, Disneyland and a variety of amusement parks whereever you go, etc. The greatest concerts and concert venues are also located in California from Hollywood Bowl to the Nokia and to the House of Blues. And if you think the weather having no seasons is terrible, wait until you go to places like Michigan and Wisconsin. It may be boring to you here, but those other places flood all the time and snow like crazy that you can’t even go out anywhere and you risk catching pneumonia. And we don’t have hurricanes like the East Coast or in the Gulf nor tornadoes that eat up our houses like the Midwest. Yeah so earthquakes? Definitely not as scary or as harmful as those other natural occurrences. On top of all that, we have Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. Why can’t you just be grateful for what you have?

And yes, I live in Southern California.

SoCal is nothing but urban sprawl. I can’t stand it.

*How is it worse in New York? There’s just traffic mainly in Manhattan and stuff, but that doesn’t count for all of New York.

Edit: Don’t forget, New York has Gaga!*

Has the OP ever lived in California? If so, where? I live in the SF Bay area and love it. Nice weather, nice people, generally a good place to be.

^OP was talking about SoCal.

Personally, I’d prefer Bay Area/SF/SD to SoCal. SoCal isn’t really my thing.

I visited California last summer, and I got a bad image because we got some weird taxi at LAX that crammed a bunch of people inside and then dropped each individual off at their respective houses. This is all over the LA Metro area. So I got lovely views of Compton, Echo Park, and some duplexes. I instantly decided I hated it, but I imagine Malibu (where Pepperdine, one of the schools I’m looking at, is) and San Diego are wonderful.

^^^^^^

You guys also got California girls.

^You mean overweight Hispanic girls?

Daisy-dukes-bikinis-on-top girls account for a horrendously small portion of the California population.

^ Lol where do you live?
You guys must all live in stupid cities…

Go to Koreatown and Little Tokyo and you have hot Asian girls. As for the California girls, you can find them everywhere, normally in cities near the beach or in white-populated areas like Malibu, Yorba Linda, San Diego, Huntington Beach, etc. and the list can go on. Those overweight Hispanic girls are typically found in lower-income areas.

@TRUFFLIEPUFF

You still never answered why New York is worse. :)

^ Too much crime, corrupt IBs on Wall Street, too expensive for living, pollution, heavily congested traffic, heartless people (go search up videos of people who would literally pass out on the street and people would just walk by without a care)

I meant New York, not just the city.

^ Yes, I meant New York.

And also I would like to add the notable amount of drug and prostitution rings and scandals to the list.
