Best tips for the reading section?

It gets stressful during the test knowing that you only have so much time and you have to read those long passages and answer the following questions.

I'm the type of person that can read a passage, but then when it comes time to the questions, it seems like I've completely forgotten what I've read.

What can I do about this? The test is on Saturday.

EDIT And I'm terrible about the generalizing kind of questions, along with the questions that ask "What can you infer..."
Anyway to weed out wrong answers for these questions? Seems easier to me than trying to find the right answer.

I say just skim it. Look at the question the fast read until you find ‘the key words’ then look at the passage a couple sentences before and a couple after and you should find the answer. On the ACT you have just over 52 seconds to complete each question for the reading portion which is doable. For the questions that ask about the passage as a whole, read the introduction and conclusion, the answers should be able to be found there.

Second piece of advice: Don’t stress and worry!!! I did this on my reading section, over-thinking pretty much everything and resulted with a 25, unfortunately. But, from taking PR review tests, I’m finishing with about two minutes to spare and constantle getting 29s or above.

I also suggest taking quick notes in the margins, if possible. After skimming, I usually sum up each paragraph in a few words. It will help you remember and recall.

so you are allowed to write on the ACT test?

You ARE allowed to write in the ACT test booklet.

To OP, find a passage that seems easy to you or is about a subject which you have a general understanding of because then, you can eliminate some of the answer choices without even reading the passage!

I went from a 28 on reading to a 35, and I’m not really sure what I did, but I do remember that I underlined sentences and words that were important, and I read the passages in order of interest to me (look at the introduction at the top).

Reading is one of my lowest score on the ACT. Don’t do what I do and not read.
