What's the best UC out there for someone who's planning on majoring in business?

Berkeley. Haas is one of the best in the country. UCLA has a great business program, too, but you have to apply as a business econ major.

uc merced, duhh

So if I’m going for UCLA, do I have to take a lot of econ related courses? Or do I just take my typical general eds and business courses?

Haas hands down

Check out assist.org - Has all the colleges you have to take at your CC to get into whichever school for whatever major.

You should do IGETC, too, which is basically your general ed classes. Talk to your counselor.

riverside is pretty good

If you are looking for pure business, only UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside offer that. If you wanted to rank those programs, then the best would be Haas, followed by Paul Merage, followed by whatever Riverside is.

If you are interested in business econ (mostly economic theory mixed with accounting/management) then you can apply to UCLA as business econ, UC Davis as Managerial Econ, UCI as Business Econ. If you just want pure econ theory, then apply to any UC as an econ major.

You should be a little more specific when you just say “business.” Namely what type of career/industry are you looking for? Or what kind of courses are you looking to take? If you look at courses alone by each of these majors, you’ll get a great understanding of what these majors actually mean.
