I’m specifically looking UC’s and CSU’s, but so far it seems like only UCB has a good business college, but my gpa and sat scores aren’t up to their par, so if possible could i have a list of the best business programs of these colleges based on personal experience?
UCI/UCR are the other 2 UC’s which have Business schools. The rest of the UC’s offer Business Econ or Managerial Econ. For Cal States, look at Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State, San Jose State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge and Cal State Long Beach. If you want some good Private schools, Santa Clara, USC, Chapman and University of San Diego.
thank you!! do you know some uc’s or csu’s to avoid applying to with my major because i dont want to apply to 8 uc’s (excluding merced)
Other than the UC undergraduate business schools previously mentioned, Many firms hire from UCLA’s business economics dept. If you are thinking of a accounting career, UCSB has a very good economics and accounting dept., which many firm Btw, UCB does not accept freshmen into the Haas business school.
UCB’s Haas is by far the best. In national rankings, it’s only behind Wharton and tied with MIT.
Cal Poly is a great program as well, though it too can be difficult to get into.
The only way to get admitted directly into Haas though is by transferring. Otherwise you need to apply to Berkeley as a freshman and then apply to Haas as a sophomore. If you don’t get in, you go to a backup major like econ. If you don’t get in as a transfer, you don’t get in period and you have no backup major.
There are other backup options and still remain as a business major: 1) transfer to another business school that is less stringent to get into. For example, the CSU’s or other private schools like LMU, St. Mary’s, Golden Gate U., or even out of state if money is on a factor.
Best CSUs for business are Cal Poly and SDSU. For UCs, the only schools that have Business specific majors are Berkeley, Irvine, and Riverside. If you want my opinion, Cal Poly SLO is the best other than Berkeley. Not sure what your GPA is but SLO is 3.56 average for transfer students.
Stanford is really good too. what are your qualifications?
Stanford does not have an undergraduate business school and has graduate business only. Stanford offers an undergraduate degree in economics. The school offers a few finance, banking and intro. to accounting courses, but not an extensive business curriculum like an undergraduate business school or business economics program like UCLA’s.
