I just retried it and the Rowan calculator listed a state grant in addition to Pell. NJ TAG.
Direct billed costs $24,510
Tuition and fees $12,864
Room and Board $11,646
Estimated grants and scholarships $19,890
Federal grants $5,775
NJ TAG $6,958
Rowan grants and scholarships $7,157
Remaining net price: $4,620
Rowan should be affordable because grants and direct loan (up to $5,500) would cover direct costs, summer job earnings and work study could cover personal expenses and books, travel.
If you can get a state grant in addition to Pell and since instate tuition is less than OOS, it’s a good idea for you to stay instate.
@newjerseygirl98, Temple requires a 3.8 GPA and 1420 SAT CR&M for full tuition. The two $4,000 stipends cannot be used towards room and board as far as I know.
They do have lesser scholarships, but being OOS and then room and board probably being around $12,000, it would be too much for OP.
Rutgers New Brunswick comes back with about $7,000 net price, $26,000 direct costs minus $19,000 grants (federal, state and Rutgers Assistance grant)
Seton Hall is about $10,000 net price, $49,000 direct costs and $39,000 grants
TCNJ’s net price calculator is not very detailed, but tuition, room and board for instate total about $27,000 so if we can assume aid comparable to Rutgers, net price should be about the same.
@tk21769 Thanks for suggesting Richmond, seems like the only feasible reach school that is out of state so far. I used collegeboard’s net price calculator and assuming I could actually be accepted (slim but possible chance) my net price would be just over 5k. I’m not sure if I should rely on the credibility of that number too much considering I haven’t filled by FASFA and they might deduct some of the aid considering my scores aren’t the best for that school, but I’d have to see- I’m not entirely too sure how reliable that 100% need met is. Bentley’s more expensive and Loyola was just unrealistic.
That’s not how need-based aid should work at schools that can legitimately claim to meet 100% of demonstrated need. Yes, your scores could affect the admission decision … but then, if they do accept you, institutional aid presumably is determined based on the school’s assessment of your financial need (if the school truly has the intention and the resources to meet 100% of demonstrated, school-determined need.) http://ifx.richmond.edu/research/common-data.html (see CDS section H) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need-blind_admission
The $10 k income, is that from one parent and are you living with both parents?
I’m asking because schools that offer need based grants might require the CSS profile in addition to FAFSA and if parents are divorced then the income of the custodial parent (and any new spouse’s) and of the non custodial parent ( and any new spouse’s) will be considered.
@mommdc Income is 7,800 more specifically- and is coming from one parent but I live with both my parents which are married.
As of right now I have applied to Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Montclair State University since I live in North Jersey and live about 10 minutes away.
I am planning on applying to Stockton, Rowan, and am still considering maybe one or two schools out of New Jersey but haven’t figured that out yet.
TCNJ has a top #20 accounting program in the entire country and nationally ranked B-school and is fully accredited.
Might be a little tough to get into though , I would call it a low reach based on your stats. They consider class rank also.
And its MUCH higher rated for undergraduate business than ANY other NJ school.
if you consider Loyola or Bentley keep in mind that TCNJ is tied for #3 overall in the north with Bentley by USNWR.
At half the tuition you can see it’s the best value. It’s also the #1 public in the north for many consecutive years by USNWR.
