Best undergraduate economics program

Disco Inferno, UCSD’s make-shift Econ program has hit the big-time: #15 internationally, but it’s more than that. Son admitted to UCLA and UCSD at this point, awaiting CAL. UCSD’s Econ is far superior to Pomona, for sure Claremont Mckenna and it’s ranking is just below UCLA.

The advantage of UCSD, is you can actually get some of your classes and they have several Econ tracks and you can really go surfing just a short hop on a bicycle with your board to Black’s Beach. It’s almost 60 or 70% Asian: studying, they say go to CAL State SanDiego to party cause UCSD is dead…small get togethers, not big socials , no big football either.

UCLA: was something before CA went bankrupt. My son’s cousin is, I’m the Mom, is a frosh at UCLA this year admitted into sophomore status cause of all the AP’s adn couldn’t get one of her first choice classes. hopes she might get some next year when she’s junior status. Many seniors can’t get their transcripts released cuase their on Holds from not meeting ECP’s (expected credits progress) and it’s an night mare to get it off to send to grad/law school apps. Just foudn this information in their school newspaper the Bruins. …must make a same-day-walkin appointent with advising, impossible and some can’t sit there all day: work and school. they say it’s super hard to change the major, they just are too impacted and short on classes and staff and overfilling to generate more money.

For future reference, UCLA doesn’t have an undergraduate business program. Please see this:

[Majors Not Offered at UCLA - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Majors/NotOffered.htm)

I think people are either confusing Business Economics as their undergraduate program or Anderson(the grad school) as the undergrad program. Most of the UCs have something like Business Econ (UC Davis Managerial Economics, UCSD Management Science, UCSC Business Economics, UCLA Business Economics, UCI Business Economics).

Only UC Berkeley (Haas), UC Riverside (SoBA), and UC Irvine (Merage) have undergrad business.

The best Economics program? In the US?

A double major in applied mathematics and monetary history.

Overseas you would have better options, particularly at the better European schools.

How widespread is a major in monetary history?

Thanks. Very good info here
