best universities in your country

I'm still in high school but the top two schools in the Philippines that most people from the upper class in my country aim for are:

University of the Philippines **-- offers almost complete courses but known for Medicine, Law, sciences, engineering, accountancy, business, social sciences, languages, history, fine arts, music

De La Salle University **-- offers almost complete courses but known for business, accountacy, engineering and sciences.

If my list can include 5 best universities in the Philippines then I will include in the list the following schools:

Ateneo de Manila University -- mostly liberal arts and law only

University of Santo Tomas -- generalist university offering broad courses

University of Asia and the Pacific - mostly management

The best universities in Bangladesh are as follows:

Public:

Dhaka University

Private:

North South University
Brac University

Canada in my order
1.UofToronto
2. McGill
3. University of British Columbia
4. University of St. Francis Xavier
5. Queens
6. McMaste
7. Waterloo...can be 3 if for engineering and comp sci
8. University of Alberta
9. Dalhousie
10. Arcadia...also can be higher depending on program.

LOL CAMBRIDGE REJECT RIGHT HERE! got rejected in a milasecond

how is university of montreal in canada, for economics?

University of Montreal is basically tied with University of Toronto for best economics department in Canada. It is by far the best in Canada for econometrics. Unfortunately the school isn't very well known outside Canada, especially not in the United States where McGill is the most popular Canadian school. But that's just my impression from young people that I talk to and those I see in this forum. People in the field of economics and finance are probably very familiar with the University of Montreal.

University of Montreal is great....but can you speak french? Since it is a french school. If you can...they good school.

I'm French.

Since your French I say apply!!! I'm hoping to go their for med. school or Sherbrook.

Mexico

ITESM (Instituto Teconologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey), commonly known as Tec, or Monterrey Tech.

It's considered the best one in Latin America...

If you've heard of the CREPUQ exchange system, I hope to be selected during my junior year. I wanted to put McGill, UMontreal and like Concordia, in that order, but if you tell me UMontreal is good I won't even apply to McGill (where they take only 10 exchange students from Europe). What other colleges are good for econ. in Quebec, preferably taught in English?

Well in the UAE its kinda tough to rank but in general
1-AUS (American University of Sharjah)
I really can't rank the rest because I never really considered them and I never researched any of them.

In Lebanon however:
1-AUB (American University of Beirut)
2-LAU (Lebanese American University)

Quebec doesn't have alot of English Universities. I think there are three. If English is what you want apply to York University and University of Toronto and Queens. These are all good Universities in Ontario for Economics.

I have to go to Quebec, unfortunately. Concordia seems nice, though.

In Brazil:

University of São Paulo (USP)

Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

University of Campinas (UniCAMP)

In Turkey:

Istanbul Technical University
Middle East Technical University (METU)
Bosphorus University
Bilkent University

To zules01

I'm not international student at Uni of Auckland as I have permanent residence status here, but I can tell you some stuff:

Entry standards

Depends, cos they have diff standards for diff courses. Are u doing IB?A levels? If A levels, typically 280/360 Ucas points for engineering, and i think 250 for law, but most others u need minimum 120 points. I'd say a 240 is a very safe bet of getting in for non-engine,non-law. Med works funny here, cos u need only 120 points. 1st year u take health sciences, and ur results there, with a UMAT( sort of like an easy MSAT) and an interview tells u if ur in med. Also, u need to have TOEFL or any English test result. English level required here is strangely higher than UK( UK wants a min C in O level English, here it's E in AS, which is way tougher)

Cost

typically 5 times what we pay, and $1 NZ = $0.64 US. here are some sample annual fees(just tuition fees) for resident students(non-international):

engineering = NZ$ 5800
commerce, law, arts = NZ$3000
Med = NZ$7000

Residence
Auckland has very limited residences as it's literally in Auckland city center. People usually take up flats together or sumtin, doesnt have to be uni-affiliated. payment's about NZ$140 a week, just rent, and can go up to $500a week, which pays for meals, internet, elec, water, and so on.

Aid

Auckland doesn't have aid for internationals, but there are quite a few scholarships, including 1 awarded to about 5-10 internationals, which pays for everything except accomodation, and gives you an extra bit of money ot play with. Internationals i think like other students are allowed to work max 20 hours a week during study, and holidays it's any amount.

As a UoA student, I'll of course sell the university as much as possible, so if you're thinking engine, bio-related(including med) then do come!! We're also sposedly the best in australasia (take that NSW!)

oops! wait up. You're french, so you mite be interested in IB. I know people with 34/42 who're in engine, but that's perm. You'd want 35-38 to get a confirmed place, and maybe 41-42, coupled with some exta credentials for cholarships.

I might consider taking the IB, but I already graduated from high school in France and the US lol. Thanks for the help though.

How could you consider taking IB if you are out of highschool?
