Best way to self study algebra 2?

I am currently taking honors algebra 2, but my teacher’s methods aren’t working at all for me. (He just gives us packets and can’t explain concepts step by step.)

Even though I have a A- in the class, I feel like I’m not retaining ANYTHING he teaches. This is because he gives us homework not related to what we are currently learning, and can’t explain anything step-by- step. I am literally just freelancing on what I remember from algebra 1 because he can’t build up on my skills- this is a problem- because if I don’t understand algebra 2, I will have a hard time in precalc.

I am also taking honors geometry (different teacher) right now, and I know that’s not the problem because geometry isn’t related to algebra 2 for the most part. I had an excellent foundation in algebra 1, which is the reason why I have been able to make it this far without him really teaching.

Furthermore, he’s also going to be my teacher for precalc!!! So I need to figure out a way to self- learn math on my own so I do not struggle through precalc or algebra 2.

The huge problem is that I don’t have a lot of time… not only am I doubling up on my math, I am taking almost all honors classes and two college courses. Plus, I have a medical problem that I have to go to appoints for twice a week, which takes about three hours of time.

I’ve looked up resources like Kahn Academy. Do you think that will be the most useful? If you know of any other websites, please list them below.

Bump

I’m having the same problem with my algebra 2 teacher. I have to use khan academy to teach myself because my teacher is terrible. It sucks.

I’m doing a lot better now. I’ve finally been able to speak to him in the language he speaks. He got his undergraduate in engineering so he has this big “figure it out yourself” mentality about him. Honestly, there’s no other way to get around it except to try and figure out how he works.

For example, I’ve been working on an engineering project and have been asking him for advice. This has allowed me to be able to understand him better. Maybe you could try asking your algebra 2 teacher for advice or try to talk to him outside of class? @shaneyboy123
