Best way to self study AP USH

I want to take the ap ush test at the end of this year and I wanted to know the best way to self study. I currently take Honors American Studies II. Are there other courses you would recommend me self studying?

read your textbook (or read amsco)

How effective is amsco?

It is pretty effective but for self studying i think you should also look into a textbook.

Do u know of any places where I can buy amsco because ive searched everywhere and its sold out. I do also have my American Journey textbook, which meets the ap standards, but im not sure how good that will be.

Amazon.com: United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination: John J. Newman: Books

It's mad expensive there. I just borrowed mine from a friend who bought it for $20.

Just google "AMSCO". The first link should be their official publishing website where you can order the book for $17; $23 with the shipping and handling. Its on back order, though, so it might take a WHILE for you to get your book. I ordered mine beginning of September and still haven't got it. :/

Also, I've been looking for some extra studying help from APUSH and found a couple of sites that I never got around to looking at closely. They may or may not be helpful, but I'll share anyway:

course-notes.org ---> Has outlines for the American Pageant textbook, documents for essay help and extra reading, practice quizzes, topic notes, glossaries, and all that good stuff that I recommend you check out.

AP Essay Writing Tips & Tutorials ---> Tutorials on how to write the APUSH essays (which are soooooo different from APWH, I'm noticing)

Top Ten Tips for Passing the AP US History Exam ---> "Top 10 Tips for Passing the AP US History Exam"...probably all bull but, like I said, I haven't actually looked through it and it may actually turn out to be helpful.

My teacher also gave me the Thomas Barnes review book which I find really helpful. It goes really in-depth on key terms and there are questions for every section you encounter. Its similar to Ethel Woods for APWH but SOOO much better...

...Hope I helped :)

Read the book and get a review book. The textbook gives you the details and the review book gives you the outline. It works well. I got an A in APUSH and a 4 on the exam.

DP

Thanks you guys
u have been very helpful

xRoqqstarrx Can you please re-post or fix the link for the AP essay writing tips and tutorials??? I really need writing help but the link won’t work…

I would recommend getting a study book like Princeton review or Kaplan. Read it and do the practice quizzes/tests and practice writing essays. Also there are some notecards you can buy or make of major events and people for review. I had to make them for my APUSH class but they were really helpful. I ended up getting a 4 and getting an A in APUSH. Goodluck!

Aside from doing the run of the mill (and boring) stuff like reading AMSCO, I’d suggest watching History Channel, NatGeo, and other history documentaries on TV or YouTube on relevant material.

I did that for comparative government and euro last year. You should know I self-studied both, got 5s on both, and really only ‘read-studied’ the preceding 2 weeks or so.

What’s better than watching a movie?

Amsco is amazing and REA’s Crash Course is a nice last minute review for right before the exam.

Direct Hits is amazing for last minute review…go with that over crash course
