I prefer consecutively, less dead time during the day. The only downside about having consecutive classes is if professors schedule midterms on the same day you have back to back exams. But it isn't so bad, you get them over with. (maybe check a campus map to see how far apart the classes are 'cause you don't want to be late for a test)

If you can get all MWF.. go for it, days off are great for doing homework & catching up.

I'd recommend taking classes MWF and on TR... I have some discussion sections on TR and the bulk of my classes on MWF. I planned my classes so that I have about an hour break between each class on MWF. I think that would give me a chance to rest a bit after an intense class, or to maybe organize my notes or add any missing information to them (while the lecture is still fresh in my mind).

If you have whole entire days off, then mostly likely you'll be tempted to slack off instead of doing homework and catching up... If you have classes (or discussion sections) on TR then you're in that academic mindframe and personally, I think you'd be more inclined to focus on your studies instead of taking the day off and lazin' around.

I like classes that happen in the second half of the day. In the morning your mind and memory are more sharp, plus there are no social events like club and organization meetings going on in mornings usually, so I like doing homework in the mornings or afternoons. In the evening I'm more tired, more lazy, and more likely to skip something else if I have loads of homework due.

It is also better to take classes consecutively because 1-2 hours in between are usually not very productive. You might also be tempted to leave homework to do in those 1-2 hours, but it usually comes out lower quality with a corresponding lower grade. If I had a 1-2 hour break in between, I'd either go eat or go to the gym or do some other things that Id have to do anyhow. But that is me. Some people are ok with reading for 1-2 hours. Whenever I did my studying, I spent a long chuck of time on it at once, like 3 hours minimum. Other people cannot sit in one place for 3 hours so short 1-2 hours study time breaks work out better for them.

I also kind of liked having all my classes in one day. So if it is MWF, I'd try to pick other classes to be also MWF. This way one day you spend running around to various classes. The next day you can sit for a long time uninterrupted and more relaxed and do homework. If you work off-campus it also makes sense to have some days be mostly free of classes such that once you're done with that one or two classes that you have, you can leave for work and then go home rather go back to take even more classes.

It's more important to space classes around breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's very important to not schedule back to back night classes, unless you have late night dining halls. Good advice unless you aren't on a mandatory meal plan, or your campus food service is ****ty. You really don't want to have dinner at 4pm.
Also, becareful about work-study or p/t jobs. You might lose out on a good workstudy job because you can't fit it into your schedule. My friend got stuck in the dining halls because of her schedule.

I think it's whatever you feel will work best for you.

Me? Sometimes I don't really mind going to school all week, but this semester I'm going to try having all of my classes on TR and one on Wednesday night. Between two of my morning classes, I only have a 10 minute break but I have an hour break for lunch/studying before I go to math. I spaced it like that because I struggle with math, so I figured that if I needed help, it would give me plenty of time to run to the Math Lab right before class :) The other TR class is really just a Tuesday night one, so I have a space of time between 3 and 6.

Wow. I sound crazy! Haha, but I'll see how it goes and if it doesn't go well, I won't be scheduling the same for spring. It's gonna be hard to beat having those 4 day weekends though :)

College classes are usually 3 hours each week.

MWF meet Monday, Wednsday, Friday for 1 hour each day
MW and TR meet Monday,Wednsday or Tuesday,Thursday for 90 minutes each day.
There are also classes that meet for 3 hours only one night a week (ie Tue7-945)

My school does MR, TF, and W. Usually a Wednesday class is three hours because it meets once a week, sort of like a night or summer class.

I like to take back to back classes in the morning on MR and TF and a morning class on W. This way my entire afternoon and evening are wide open, so if I want to do something that evening I can work in the afternoon. That can also get flipped around if I want to do something in the afternoon. It also makes me more accessible to work if they need me. I also think better in the morning so it works in my favor.

RBase07, it is possible. That's what I'm doing this coming semester. 3 TR normal classes, one class that meets once a week Tuesday nights, and one class that meets once a week Wednesday nights. :)
