Best Way to Study for APUSH?

To former-APUSH students,

What is the best way to study for APUSH during the summer and the year? What resources did you use to practice for the AP exam? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Take a bunch of practice tests to get used to the style of APUSH questions. I won’t be of much use to you greatly since the CB has changed the format of the exam. But, as far as the essays are concerned, I would look up past DBQ prompts and use them to study. They give you evidence and inferences from the documents. Look up the name of the prompt and attach “scoring guidelines” to the search.

Hey guys check out my blog for information on APUSH and free chapter outlines for American Pageant!

For reviewing concepts, I’d recommend REA Crash Course and AMSCO US History (which is available as a pdf online for free). The Crash Course videos by John Green are also pretty well done.

Also, take lots of practice tests! AP has released 2 MC sections from 2006 and 2001. They also release all past years’ DBQs and FRQs.

The REA crash course book that kirstr said helped me get a 5. Highly recommend reading that book and taking a practice test or two and looking at FRQ/DBQ questions on the College board website
