There are a few more schools on my list that I need to apply to, and I'm finishing those up now. However, at all of the remaining schools, I am just a few points away from qualifying for their honors programs. The main thing holding me back is my math score on the SAT.

The first time I took the test, I got a 560 on the math section.
After my retake, my score went down to a 550.

I need to improve by about 40 points. Obviously, I can bring my reading score up some to put less stress on improving the math score, but I would really like to try to get it up if at all possible.

Are there any books that offer instruction over the math concepts covered by the test rather than just practice test sections? I believe that would help me more than anything.

If there are other methods that can be used to improve one's math score, please feel free to suggest them!

Thanks in advance.

There’r numerous books out there that’ll help you with increasing your math score,

I didn’t really do much math prep but the Barrons books that i used for the maths subject tests are really useful so i’d recommend using their sat reasoning book,

if you don’t wan2 buy a book then collegeboard has an online course for the sat 1 exam which ye can buy for $70 i think, and thats valid for a year

annnd if ye don’t want to pay anything but still want good help, here’s a site that really helped me out for the writing section, but there math is equally good

best of luck =)

I would get the Barron’s guide, try the problems in each of the study sections and identify where your weaknesses are. Then really practice a lot of problems in those sections - maybe get a textbook from the library and do even more problems. The only way to get better at math is to practice.
