The Govenor’s Academy’s package was so uplifting after 2 waitlists and 5 rejections! Very personlized to me and recieved multiple letters from the faculty.

Wow, after reading all these really cool acceptance things I’m so jealous. I just got my L’ville acceptance (which is amazing) but I was kinda thinking it was a little tad shabby? NOT TO SOUND UNGRATEFUL. I really am. But it was just an acceptance letter, a certificate (all typed), a revisit day brochure, and a 10 schools agreement thing. Nothing handwritten.
Anyone else get the same thing?

The school Moosieboy got into sent three separate packets arriving over the course of the week: first, he got his admissions packet, which was addressed to us (this was the “big” envelope, and it included the acceptance letter as well as the FA award, all the contracts, a school catalog, an invitation to a reception for accepted students, and a bumper sticker for the school). He also got an admissions letter addressed to him in a separate envelope, and this one had two short but sweet hand-written messages from the AO that interviewed him as well as from the Dean of Admissions. A few days later, he received a package that had a really cool t-shirt that had the name of the school and “Class of 18” on the back - really cool! And he also received some of his application essays with comments from the Dean of Admissions, accompanied by a hand-written letter from the Dean of Admissions letting MB know why he’s such a great fit for the school and vice versa. We’ve also received two separate letters, one from a current student and one from the parent of a current student, encouraging us to choose this school. Since it was the only one MB applied to, it was never a question of whether or not he would go on our end. But it’s felt really nice being “courted” by the school, even though we’ve already verbally let them know he’s DEFINITELY going to accept :)

I got my package from Andover today and it contained tuition information, a certificate, an acceptance letter (with a handwritten note from the Dean of Admissions), the TSAO agreement, spring visits brochure, and a handwritten postcard from my interviewer! It definitely made me feel excited about attending Andover in the fall.

Loomis’s has the acceptance letter, financial aid info, the TSAO agreement, revisit day schedule and info, and it comes in a Loomis Chaffee folder with all pictures of different students, sports, and activities.

Wow, that’s really awesome. @moosiechica88 - that sounds amazing! Congrats to your kid! Hopefully I’ll get something more, but we’ll see. It’s just not as welcoming as I would have liked. Peddie’s was much nicer- there was a sticker and enrollment info and just a lot more stuff about the school compared to L’ville (but I still haven’t gotten a course catalogue or anything handwritten from either schools).

Omg @moosiechica88 what school did your son get into (if u don’t mind me asking):0 I wanna acceptance package like that I haven’t gotten mine from kent yet :)

@JerseyGirl999 Moosieboy’s results are on the spreadsheet! <a href=“College Confidential Prep School Decisions 2015 - Google Sheets”>http://■■■■■■■.com/ccprepschooldecisions2014

@JerseyGirl1999 - it’s actually a day school in Maine. It used to be a boarding school, but they don’t board anymore. It’s called Berwick Academy, and it’s a very competitive day school. It’s been my dream that he goes either there since he was a little boy, though I never said anything to anyone. Last year, he got to play against them in soccer at their school and he fell in love with it! His step-cousins both go there and they’ll be in his class next year! He also has two upper classmen friends from soccer, so he’s SO excited!!! It’s a great school, even if it’s not a BS :)

@stargirl3 thanks :)

@moosiechica88 oh thank you hehe that’s cool I’m sure he’ll have an awesome time ;)

I don’t know if I am allowed to revive this thread, but I am also curious what the letters are going to look like. I feel like i should command find (or control F) snippets of letter on the page. heeh Does anyone care to post their letters, doesnt’ matter rejection waitlist or acceptance. curiousss
@vanillapuff Sure, I will (on M10)
Hello: having gone through this last year, I have to say that some schools do March 10 acceptances with a bit more flair than others. Here is what our experience was last year:
Lawrenceville: simple letter inside of a thick envelope with contract and revisit day brochure. No phone calls, emails.
Choate: Nothing came on M10, but within a few days we saw a nice thick envelope with a brochure containing acceptance letter and some additional letters from teachers/sports that my son expressed interest in. Received a couple of follow-up emails from admissions and from nearby parents to ask if we had any questions. Also included was a nice king size pillow cover with the words “Dream Big: Choate Rosemary Hall”. It was very nice.
Taft: nice thick envelope on M10 (first class mail) with a handwritten note on the front written by dean of admissions. Schedule of revisit days included. Followup personal emails from the coach and the interviewer
Deerfield: Priority mail envelope arrived on M10 with congratulatory letter for students/parents and details on revisit days. A few days later a tube arrived enclosed with green/white M&Ms and a poster of the school. Nothing was personalized on the acceptance letter. Had received a couple of emails and phone calls from Deerfield parents shortly thereafter asking if there were any questions. Did a revisit day and it was quite well done. As a parent I received an invitation for a detailed phone questionnaire during the summer (I assume to get details on why we didn’t accept).
Hotchkiss: Priority mail envelope on M10 with folder, congratulatory letter. Nothing personalized from what I remember. Several emails and phone calls from local parents/students encouraging to come to revisit day.
Andover: Had probably the best packet I’ve seen. Arrived by Fedex on morning of M10. Included was a thick folder with several letters. One signed by the dean with a small note affixed to the front. Second was a personal handwritten notecard from the interviewer. Details on the revisit days were included. The revisit day at Andover was well done — lots of freebies (umbrellas, pancho, t-shirts).
My son became a bit overwhelmed the week after M10 dealing with all the phone calls and emails. My wife and I both also received about a half-dozen phone calls from parents, admissions, coaches, etc. The attention was short lived, and after A10, all contact except the school which he accepted stopped.
Enjoy March 10 to April 10, it will go by quickly. Some schools are quite flashy, but keep in mind that you shouldn’t choose a school simply based upon which had the best admissions packet and best goodies.
Went through this year before last. DS’s only applied to 3 places: Deerfield, Loomis Chaffee, and nearby private day school.
Deerfield: priority mail thick envelope with congratulations, revisit day info, Deerfield pin. Personal (hand-written) note from head of admissions. I’m pretty sure there was an on-line congratulatory video to watch. Mailing tube a couple days later with green m&ms. Postcard from interviewer at some point. Email from an EC my son does before revisit day. Call from Deerfield admissions to my son’s school before revisit day, expressing interest in him, which was passed along to us. Pretty good revisit day-- where head of admissions came up to us to chat, head of son’s primary EC came up to us to chat, but, interestingly, his interviewer never said a word to us (though we saw her). Once we accepted, letter and phone call from current local student for him, and one from a parent for us.
Loomis Chaffee: congratulatory fat envelope with revisit info, hand-written note from interviewer. No other contact before revisit day. Revisit day very nicely organized, but nothing personal at all. Everyone got Loomis Chaffee water bottle. Email after we turned them down asking for input-- very nicely worded.
Interesting reading through the notification protocol - seems acceptance to Lawrenceville is formal and rejection is downright cold and mean! Funnily enough, of the 7 schools we applied to this year, we feel like there has been the least interest and coolest reception from Lawrenceville. Of course, DD won’t be going to classes or living in the admissions office so I’m sure once you’re a student there, you’ll feel the love! Just curious though, if others have had the same experience and if the lack of warmth is by design?
Anyone else noticed some, uh, issues with Lville’s admission office’s organization?
The thick letters on M10 must have been great to receive. My son was accepted at Groton and it was the acceptance notification on the online portal. He waited until five o’clock when others had received their info much earlier. It was started by a huge YES and was personalized as to why he was accepted. It was a nerve racking couple of days as the FA info came two days later along with all the contracts and revisit day info. I loved looking at the acceptance videos of the school’s last year. Groton didn’t have one. I’m a bit nostalgic reading through this and remembering last year, but also a bit nervous as we start thinking about child #2.
The FedEx letters from Andover came early last year. My son hadn’t received anything and heard that two of his friends had received packages early in the day. It was clear by the time that the Andover portal was up that he hadn’t been accepted. It was tough to be waiting and watching for the FedEx guy and nothing arriving. It was, however, all for the best!
Yes!! Someone from Lville’s office emailed me for something, and I called the person. The representative snapped at me at the phone, saying that “You told me this already!!” I hung up the phone feeling confused. Why would you email me, then? Then, to make it worse, they emailed me AGAIN recently with the subject SECOND NOTICE. I emailed them. Yikes. It took two phone calls (the second one being really awkward), and an awkward email to resolve it. I hope they don’t email me again about the issue. I have no idea what to do if that happens.
@mathman1201: Yikes. This was the admissions office, right?
The FA office. @thelittleswimmer
