Posts: 46 the first few words of the Vassar acceptance letter are:
Dear so-and-so,
You're in!

They sure cut right to the chase.

You know, that made me curious about what Vassar had written in my acceptance letter (back in the late 90s)...so I dug it out and it said the exact same thing!

Dear so-and-so:

You're in!

Congratulations...blah blah blah

Been a few years since I graduated from there...and I'd forgotten about the acceptance letter until I saw your post. Funny that I'm browsing these forums for college applicants in my family only to be reminded of my own college application saga from nearly a decade ago :D

What in the hell were you thinking?! Did you really think you were good enough to lick the soles of my shoe.. much less apply for a spot at a prestigious institution? Well I have two words to say to you:

Congrats and gotcha!

Welcome to (insert college name here)!

If you want to murder me when you first set foot on the campus, I'll understand.

Sincerly,
Adcom chick

All the parents would probably kill me first. lol

well ive only gotten 3 letters so far.. one acceptance, one deferral, and one rejection so i have quite the range lol

BC accepted- simple big white envelope when i opened it up it was a nice big packet that said WELCOME TO THE HONORS PROGRAM with a short personal hand written note saying how much they were impressed by my gold award and good luck in teh tennis season-- i thought that was sweet

Williams College deferred- Simple, nothing really stood out--somewhat nice though--a record # of overqualified applicants

Georgetown NHS school rejection- short and mean.. pretty much said we are better than you. dissappointed you weren't good enough for us. (and i was really expecting to get in so it was especially harsh)

Lafayette had a nice acceptance letter, it specifically mentioned my essay, my interests, major, etc. The letter was even hand signed by the Dean of Admissions.

my WUSL letter was ok. It came inside a US Postal office Priority Mail package so the moment i saw it, i ripped the envelope. Out came a letter saying that they were giving me an "early notice of admission." Really nice. Actualyl i was too violent and ripped the letter too. With the letter there was a multicultural celebration weekend pamphlet saying that they would pay the airplane ticket and stuff. Really nice.

U of Miami and UCLA's acceptances came on the same day for me which was pretty cool. Miami's was a lot nicer it had a lot of info and was presented well; came with a sticker too. UCLA's didn't have much but it came in a nice folder.

By far one of the worst admission letters was the university of Washington. There was no personal letter saying congrats or anything. The best they could do was a congrats on the outside of the envelope. The inside was a bunch of bs info and papers.

Williams' acceptance was loooooovely. 2 Pages mentioning specific things abut my application (interest in Romance languages, the harp, volunteering, literature, etc.) and how I could benefit from Williams.

Amherst's was very nice, too, they went out of their way to be accomodating and sent me an early write.

yea do the ea/ed kids miss out on the cool acceptance packet???

ugas was retarded. its a big envelope with "official acceptance" plastered on the front before u even open it. u can check on the internet too. theres fireworks if u got in.

syracuses seems boring. email with the letter attached. congratulations on your admission to the l.c smith school of computer science at syracuse. the acceptance letter just came with the commitment deposit info. basically. YEY YOU GOT IN.....pay us.

I LOVED the USC packet! It wasn't THAT special but something about it made me smile. And I have that certificate up on my wall now =)
They have really informative pamphlets too.

I hate letters that make you wait and read a bunch before realizing if it is a rejection or acceptance. "_______ College has received a record number of applications this year and it has been very difficult for us to construct a class of a mere 700 students. Therefore..." baaah.
