Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

uga did that this year. sent out 100 false acceptances.

rejections in large envelopes would be hilarious

Because I knew that Carnegie Mellon's "fat envelope" was literally labeled "fat envelope," the thin envelope I got from them made me sad. However, my name/address was handwritten and I opened it, read like 3 sentences before it actually said anything good. It was actually my audition results (they were good!) so I stopped freaking out.

The rest of the letter said "Just because you had a good audition doesn't mean you'll get in!!!" for like 4 paragraphs.

Yes, no offense but you drama chicks are INSANE. I would've wrote a whole book on how just because you had a good audition it doesn't mean you'll get in. I wouldn't wanna be next some of these drama chicks I know if they ever got rejected from anything.

Note: Not all drama majors are insane; just most of you :)

haha, I auditioned for music composition

Eh. Caltech rejection was just the standard. But their envelope had their website address on it- WTH?

What if those rejections in fat envelopes had applications to McDonalds, Burger King, etc.

Pacific gives out a calendar from April - December that outlines all of the sports games and freshmen admit days and what not, along with a financial aid package...very generous. Much more impressed than my other ones...then again, those were UCs that get 30,000 applicants.

MIT has a nice rejection letter, but I'm glad I was accepted =D

sephiroth- way to rub it in

i got accepted to Lewis & Clark today... it was the pretty typical "fat" envelope. But it was cool because they included a nice certificate saying that i was a Dean's Scholar (and getting $8,000 a year!). They also made a "personal" website for acceptees (which isn't really personal, it just says your name on it). anyway it was more exciting then my state u's acceptance letter.

Minnesota (Twin Cities) sent me a LSA Class of 2010 T-shirt and a sophomore there gave me a personal phone call as well. I'm sincerely sorry that I won't be going there, since I've gotten into UCLA and Michigan. And I'm still waiting on Cal and Chicago.

If I get into all my RD schools (I'm currently 7 for 7) but not my ED choice (Northwestern), I'll be quite angry at NU.

Last year I was accepted to:
Boston University- Online post and then HUGE packet
Syracuse- Small envelope
University of Miami (FL)- Big envelope with sticker
Bates College- HUGE packet
Providence College- Standard white envelope
Northeastern- White envelope with CONGRATS written on it

/\ all were very nice

Waitlisted at:
Lehigh- Small envelope
Colgate- Small envelope

/\ these were SO nice I felt really comforted that they were trying to find space for me.

I am a junior although one of my friend who is a senior got a 3 page rejection letter from SUNY Albany. It was like we really loved you but the application was too late and blah blah. Lesson learned: when applying to a big state college get it in early since so many apply. But she got into Fordham with full a scholarship so she is happy.

Didn't mean to rub it in.......

Just saying the rejection letter was nice, but i was glad not to receive it.

MIT has a really nice waitlist letter, too. It makes you feel better and gives you some measure of hope, even when there is none.

MIT has great letters in general (I got an accept and am extremely happy). However, even the introduction on their decisions portal is touching.

Saying that no matter what the decision, you should take a moment alone to emotionally respond, and you deserve this opportunity.

I actually felt like MIT cared about every applicant, unlike a few other schools I applied to.

Nobody's said UNC-CH, I think, but it was big, with some of the letter showing through the plastic envelope, a nice letter, big map, guide to freshman O, immunization forms (?!) etc etc....then later on you get TONS of invitations to random events...but no free things....I did get a stuffed Ram at a scholarship event :-D

Looking at this thread just makes me want to get some letters...hopefully acceptance letters.

^ Yeah, me too! Only, I have two more years to wait... XD

The Macalester letter was pretty mean, didn't really say anything nice about me, just that they didn't want me at their school. Ouch...
