You should look at Naviance for your school. If you are talking about a ‘renowned’ school like Cranbrook DCD, Greenhills or Roeper you have a decent shot. A few years ago, on Naviance, I saw an admission floor of about 3.4/31 from one of the schools above. Plug in your data and see where you stand.

That being said, CoE and Ross are the most competitive schools in the University. My son was rejected at Ross for PA even with a 4.0/36 (probably because his essay was not that great). No problem with CoE.

To hedge your bets if Naviance shows some rejections, I would consider applying to Kineseology, LSA or Nursing, all of which have lower averages. You can transfer to CoE with a 2.5 Michigan college GPA, but a 3.0 would better. In the past, Ross cross-campus transfers have needed GPAs in the 3.6+ range.

Thanks,
According to Naviance it seems that I will most probably get in however Naviance doesnt show the individual schools.

Also do you know if it is possible to transfer to CoE the summer before my freshman year( or during winter), or does it have to be once I complete freshman year

UMich actually calculates your uwGPA without subgrades anyway. Your test score is good but your GPA is low but you should ask your GC about past student’s GPA admitted into UMich.

If Naviance shows no rejections at your GPA/ACT band you should be fine. Many of the better students apply to engineering. If you apply to Ross, you should have a strong business interest and essays, plus ECs.

Here is the link for cross-campus transfers. You will need to have completed the prerequisites before transferring. During freshman year >half of a typical engineer’s course load is non-engineering anyway so it isn’t a big deal.
