Beyond UCLA and UCB...

I applied to several UCs as a German major (or German studies at the ones that call it that...), with anthro as my second choice, as I'm planning on double-majoring anyhow. So far, I've gotten into UCI, UCR, UCSD, UCSB, and UCSC, but I'm still waiting on UCLA, UCD and UCB. I really want to go to UCLA and UCB as they've got good language and anthro programs, but as they're hard to get into, I'm trying to figure out which of the others I'd be best at if I don't get in to my first two picks.

My priorities are:
1. Strong programs in foreign languages and anthropology
2. Study abroad opportunities - I'd like to spend a year abroad if I can. I've heard confusing things about study abroad at the UC schools. Some people say there's one shared program between all the UCs, but on some of the schools' websites, they make it look like they have unique programs in that regard, so if you have any info on that, please let me know!
3. Intellectually stimulating campus life (I'm more interested in indie films than keggers, but both are fun)
4. A good place to have graduated from when I apply for grad school

UCI has the simultanious advantage/disadvantage of being close enough for me to live at home. It's cheaper, but I'd rather get the **** out of Orange County. I've heard from students their programs are serviceable for both majors, but they're definitely not famous for either.

I'm not really considering UCR at this point; it was my last resort safety school, but if you know of some reason why I should seriously consider it, let me know and I'll reevaluate.

UCSD (ERC) looks interesting, but I'm not sure I'm thrilled about having to take additional core classes beyond the stuff I completed for IGETC. Also, I've heard it's socially dead. On the flip side, I like that the ERC college has a multicultural focus, as it goes well with my majors, and I'd like to try to live in I-house if I go there.

UCSB - for whatever reason, my mother wants me to go to this one, but I don't have strong feelings one way or the other, so if anyone's there right now, I'd love to hear about the experience.

UCSC - I haven't heard much other than that it's a party school.

UCSC is a party school? Are you sure you’re not confused with UCSB?

Not from what I’ve heard so far.
