BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@MomofJ5 We got the e-mail from USC SDA too. Counting on this page, there are at least 6 of us. I am concluding that everyone got it. If anyone hears of someone who DID NOT receive the e-mail from USC SDA, please let me know.

Yes, Purchase sent out at least a couple rejections a few weeks back.

Waiting on Purchase here too (along with Pace and Hartt).

@blessedgirl3 we are still waiting to hear from Purchase and Pace.

We saw a lot of Syracuse acceptances last Friday. (Congrats to all who got one!)
Did anyone get a rejection or waitlist?

We got the USC email also.

Speaking of California, I was reading on another forum about UC problems ā€“ how hard it is to get into public universities in CA these days (non-theater majors), the immense pressure on students at all levels to earn all As, take many APs, participate in lots of extra-curriculars. Favorite quote, which seems applicable here:

"The saddest outcome is not rejection. The saddest outcome is when kids believe their futures are doomed bc they werenā€™t accepted.

Too much self-worth and future prospects are being directly tied to the admissions process."

Edited to add another favorite quote which I wonder about in regards to some of these elite theater programs:

ā€œI did read another interview about Yale admissions (not UC, but still useful), the director said that they could get rid of their entire freshman class and fill it with the rejected applicants and have the exact same quality of class. I thought it was too bad not enough people realize that this is really what it is like.ā€

Speaking of Yale, Megyn Kelly had a great piece on today about the most popular class at Yale: Psychology and the Good Life. Basically teaching what creates true happiness. Itā€™s available online as well!

My D cannot figure out how to get into her Pace portal but it doesnā€™t really matter does it? She has many Pace emails from admissions (all not related to BFA Acting of BFA FTCV) so she knows they have her email address. Seems the consensus is Pace does not use the Portal to send decisions?

Has anyone heard of any movement on priority hold at Texas State?

@Rizzo2 I saw in a CC post from a few years ago that, if you google Pace White Pages, you can search by name and select Dyson School of the Arts as the Division, NYC as the campus, and then change the Person type to ā€œApplicantā€. When you search for your childā€™s first or last name, it will show up as Undecided or the program they auditioned for. If you have a common first or last name, you will have to log in with their Pace portal info because the search is too large. If it shows as Undecided, you are either a ā€œnoā€ or an alternate/waitlist. My S hasnā€™t heard from Pace and, when I looked, he shows up as Undecided so this may hold true :frowning:

My S17 visited Pace last year, listed on his common app and submitted FAFSA but never completed the application. To this day, we still get emails asking if he is going to complete his application!

Per Pace whitepages search. My daughter has been accepted to the Performing Arts and she shows up as ā€œundecidedā€ in this applicant search strategy. So for those who are still waitin - donā€™t lose hope and best wishes for good news in the mail soon.

@Atreuh - also still waiting on Syracuse. The year D1 auditioned (it was MT, but they notify the same way) they had at least 3 waves of notifications. After the final Friday, she got a snail mail rejection the following week.

And @TNTheatreDad, no word on Texas State Priority Hold. Too many unknowns still!

Thanks, @coronado! Great to know that no news might still be good news for Pace!

@coronado and @Griffilus
So my understanding of the Pace system, ā€œaccepted to the Performing Arts and she shows up as ā€˜undecidedā€™ā€ means that she is accepted to the BA program at Pace, but no decision has been reached on the BFA part. Is that you understanding?

@actingdreams Amen! I was just at a school meeting with my daughter and her HS counselor and one of her teachers and they were going on about what a rock star she is and how strong and I just started crying. I DONā€™T cry, like ever, and esp. in public. It suddenly all hit me ā€“ all the anxiety about how she is going to do out there in that great big world on her own; all the pressures of performing arts on top of the regular pressures and transitions to college; and ā€“ yes ā€“ the fact that I have to LET GO! I think being on these boards is like a last gasp to feel like I have some control over or place in her life. In the end, I donā€™t. Just like I couldnā€™t control the outcome of this process. The only ā€œplaceā€ at the table I have now is ā€œmoneyā€ and the place my D gives me.

@Noreplays2018 Iā€™m crying with you. Hang tight. Perhaps your daughter will thank you first when she receives her emmy or oscar

@Griffilus I now see you already answered this! My assumption has been is means ā€œnoā€ at this point!

I couldnā€™t talk my S into applying to Purchase and Pace. Now (with all the waiting) - I kinda glad he didnā€™t. #:-S
Hoping the BEST for all of you who are waiting for good news!

Thanks for the candid feedback @marg928! Much appreciated. Do you find that LMU uses its location to its advantage, by having interactions with any of the local studios or other benefits that would typically come from the location? Also, any thoughts about life on campus? Weā€™re not very religious and one of the things I was trying to assess on our visit was how integral religion is to the daily life on campus our tour guide said about 50% catholic, meaning a lot are not. So, it seemed to be ā€œthereā€ but not a dominant aspect of student life.
