BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@Atreuh This policy started 2016 or more recently in 2017. I should’ve read the info more but they are now a no loan policy school so if you don’t have enough cash stashed, you may be in luck

@actingdreams the policy actually says the following
If a student’s parents are unable to contribute at the level outlined in the financial aid award letter or if
a student requests assistance for an unusual expense (for example, health insurance coverage,
computer purchase, etc.), the student has the option to appeal for a review.  A student may be offered
a loan as a result of an appeal.

Hi @Boilermom as stated, I knew about it through the news mentioning it here. Holefully they will make a wat. A small loan for Northwestern i hope would not be bad for her. Im sure Northwestern will make it work. They always seem to

I know absolutely nothing about it- but with the loan policy, wouldn’t that be in regards to your EFC? That’s what you are supposed to be able to “afford”. That could be quite a bit more than a family wants to pay

It’s time for all of us to move over to the Financial Aid boards! I have more questions than answers at this point. The financial aid contributors on CC are pretty savvy.

@ginaf1102 - do you have any specific suggestions on which FA boards? Thanks!

@Naevia Whatever the price is, you should write a letter of appeal. They like to retain those who were accepted regardless of financials. My In-Law says that every candidate is different (she works in their F Aid office and is a counselor). They are always open to many ways of making sure that your S enrolls. Let us know how it goes for future accepted/ lurkers  Congratulations again.

Thanks @actingdreams and everyone with suggestions. I won’t post financial details, but will definitely share where he ends up in the final decisions board and any info that will be helpful to those in future years.

If anyone gets anything from American University today can you please post. I checked my Informed Delivery (which I learned about from parents on here) but see nothing today. Thank you and so thrilled to hear that most people seem to have good news!

I’m sure you know now…Syracuse was released 3/16/18

@Texastheatermom I thought Syracuse was not done releasing acceptances/rejections yet?

@Texastheatermom @emf1959 - Syracuse releases in waves - there will be another batch out tomorrow, and then there may be one more round next Friday as well

We spoke with the BU FA office and have submitted an appeal. I will keep the group posted.

Still waiting on Pace. Any idea why you think they are taking so long? My S auditioned for MT and FTVC and no word. We don’t even get calls from the main school and he did get a nice acceptance package. His name is listed on the Pace white pages but as Undecided. Ugh. We are anxiously awaiting. It is one of our top choices.

@artskids how do you submit a thing for BU? It is very expensive and my S didn’t get any merit aid. We cannot get any financial aid as we don’t qualify but it will be difficult to pay each year.

^^^no word here from Pace, either. Not sure why some got calls and some letters for all types of decisions (although I haven’t heard any WL?) and for some, it’s radio silence.

@HopeinMT We called the FA department at BU. They walked us through the appeal process. We submitted a letter and some documentation but told them we are prepared to send them any documentation needed to reconsider.

@artskids Sorry I’m late to this conversation so maybe you already posted this info before. Are you requesting extra aid because they didn’t offer you any or are you asking for additional? Thanks! My D also got accepted to BU but tuition is crazy high!

What I’ve witnessed from Pace. The notifications are SLOW. I honestly don’t think they enjoy calling nor emailing and have been depending on the snail mail system. Unfortunately, they’ve had some school cancelations days (now this is what was verbally told to my S).

It looks like many of the departments have made very little congratulatory emails or calls. This includes MT. Dance haven’t heard anything except one person said that she received a rejection letter last week. No one is hearing anything.

I honestly have to believe that the universe will have acceptance mailers by Saturday (now that school has resumed)

early on, My S Was told to expect an acceptance mailer at the beginning of March. Since then there have been delays with snowstorms landing right before spring break

My S. received another acceptance yesterday and the Director mentioned that there were delays because of school closings and lack of help with their department calls this year.

As for Pace, S was accepted to Acting earlier this month. Still have not received anything in the mail yet regarding the acceptance/FA etc. Spring break definitely played a role in this process as department heads were calling on their own time etc. It does seem like there are many, many kids waiting to hear something! Hang in there everyone!
