@actorparent1 Wow! So exciting… and right after you shared about waiting for that last one. Congrats to your D. Fingers crossed on the FA piece.
@actorparent1 so happy for your D! Congratulations!
Yay!!! @actorparent1! I am so happy for you. Hartt is such a great program. I think Alan Rust’s vision for the program is really fantastic. Let’t hope they show you the money!!
@actorparent1 So thrilled for your daughter and a happy ending!
Fantastic!
Something else to keep in mind with waitlists and length of time you may need to actually wait to get off of it. Some schools only accept their class number then will start pulling off the waitlist as students decline offers — I’ve heard this route is often, but not always, done by type. While there are other schools that have a built in yield, or “overbook the flight” so to speak, and won’t start calling the waitlist until they get near or past their yield.
@actorparent1 So so happy for you and your daughter! As I have mentioned I am a Hartt mom of an MT freshman and it is such a stellar program. The AT path is so amazing that my MT loving daughter has actually considered switching to AT because the training opportunities are that fantastic. The MT students take many of the same classes, but have a different path that does not include all of the Acting classes, especially as they reach the Jr. and Sr. level. And they don’t get to do the London term. She is hoping that her schedule will allow her to take some of the additional acting classes as she progresses because the depth and breadth of the training is just so wonderful. You will be blown away when you see the plays they produce and how well trained these acting students are in their craft! What a great day for you! Congratulations!!
@actorparent1 - yippee!!! Congratulations to you and your daughter on the Hartt acceptance!! She has another wonderful option after all this waiting. Enjoy the moment. Hope you are both smiling.
@actorparent1 - I am so thrilled for you!!! Dreams do come true after a heck of a lot of hard work! Congratulations to your D.
.
Darn…son got waitlisted at Syracuse …my husband went there so son wanted to follow in his footsteps. Oh well…moving forward!
@emf1959 D got waitlisted at Syracuse too. Still in the running. Not everyone will accept their offers! Don’t give up hope!
@actorparent1 I am SO happy for your daughter, and really appreciate you sharing her story. My D is planning to sit in on classes in the next few weeks. It’s likely they will be classmates next year, if financial aid works out for you. Do you know how many AT students are accepted into program each year?
@Fergie978 I just hate the idea of waiting and maybe having to lose a deposit to another college. I really want to be done with this process LOL
@emf1959 - Me too, and we do have other schools we were looking at, but D has a BF at Syracuse - who was waitlisted last year - so I know it has happened!
I think a lot of people will come off the waitlist for Syracuse this year. My D already knows a number of kids who have committed to other programs. Before getting too excited, I would advise you read the article in the Daily Orange about Syracuse being one of the most expensive schools in the US next year.

Net price of $28,000 doesn’t seem too bad…
Yes, but for those in the donut hole it’s close to full price. Talent scholarship max is $10,000, so $60,000+ per year is crazy in my opinion. Students in the College of Arts and Sciences can get merit awards up to $28,000 but my understanding is that those are not available to VPA students.
@type1mom Wow…they are almost up there with NYU!! My son is leaning toward Emerson…waiting to see if they will offer anything. Would love to make a decision so we can open up slots!
@takealeap , I’m not sure what the acting class size is at Hartt. When is your D going to sit in on classes? We’re going up on Sunday April 15 to see their production of “Dancing at Lughnasa,” and then D will sit in in classes the next day.
