BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@laylamom So happy for you! You had a long month of March and this just turns all that sadness on its head! Just one more piece of evidence that many of these elite programs (maybe all programs, I don’t know) are trying to fill a “role” or a “type” to complete their “ensemble” (all 4 years).

Congrats to every applicant (& parent of applicant) who’s already decided…and big sympathetic hugs to everyone whose kids are still deciding! May 1st IS going to get here, one way or another, right?!?

I have a practical question to ask - if anyone has inside-industry feedback on how valuable it might be for someone coming out with a BFA in Acting to have also earned a BFA in Arts Administration at the same time…I would love to hear it. Thanks!

I hear folks are coming off of the NYU Tisch Waitlist. Good luck to you if you’re waiting

Hello @actorparent1, I recently joined CC as my D will be applying for 2019 admission for BFA. We just visited CUNY Brooklyn over spring break and it is one of her choices. Do you mind sharing how the audition experience was for your S? Feel free to pm me too. Very much appreciated, I am following this thread from the beginning and it has been a great learning experience for what’s coming in just a few months. Thank you!

Sure, @NYDreammom! I will ask my son so I can give a more detailed response and will PM you!

@proudcalidad - we toured The New School the last week of March and had a fantastic experience (D is applying for next year), in fact it became clear it will be her top choice. They do have info sessions and tours per program and we received ton of info. Hope you have found the answers you need and congrats on all acceptances!

@laylamom - WOW! I remember your posts earlier about the letter you got from UNCSA encouraging your D to reapply next year. I remember thinking at the time that it was weird they’d do that - and now we know why! They must have really loved your D!!! It’s odd they didn’t waitlist her but that is the same school that called someone mistakenly about tech theater acceptance and then called back saying they had called the wrong person so - I’m thinking admissions is quirky there. SO happy and thrilled that your daughter has this opportunity - maybe it’s fate, maybe it’s just a road she won’t take but what a choice to have! I hope the visit goes well and you end up with a firm and totally happy decision after you’re done.

D just got a call from Guthrie offering her admission!

Congrats @artskids !!!

Thank you @Naevia! She got the call on her way out the door so we haven’t been able to get much of a download!

Congratulations, @artskids!

@artskids - Congrats to your D!
Guthrie is a great program!

Head is spinning. S just got the call from UNCSA that he’s off the WL! I was almost positive we knew where we were committing in a week but now S is rethinking. Happy though, as this was MY silent top choice for him, and in his top 2. It’s definitely calming that he has an option closer to home (FL). May or may not be editing final decision post. :-/

@artskids Fantastic News!! especially before May day! Congratulations

@rutgersmom321 congratulations! I completely understand. Both programs seem to be exciting with different approaches to your S. Journey. Can’t go wrong either way

congratulations @artskids !! Such a wonderful program. Things are moving now. Very exciting.

@rutgersmom321 Woo Hooo! Congratulations!!! We are here(NC) and sitting in on Class tomorrow…well daughter is sitting in. If you end up taking this road PM me.

I love hearing about the waitlist movement!! So exciting. Congratulations!!

Congratulations, @rutgersmom!

So much exciting news in the past few days - @laylamom, @artskids, now @rutgersmom! Can’t wait to see what everyone decides!

@rutgersmom321 congratulations!!! That is wonderful news. Please PM me I would just love to talk to you. I have not yet shared a long Final Decision but I have posted that my D has accepted at UNCSA. We love everything about this program. I can also connect your child to my D and the student chat group.

Thanks all! And congrats to everyone finding their home. Love seeing it all come together. @laylamom I’d love to hear how it is for you and D! Such short notice for us so we couldn’t sit in on classes, but S did an on-campus audition so we luckily got a feel for the campus.
