BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@artskids- congratulations on the Guthrie acceptance! It’s a terrific program and Joe Price is wonderful. Another great option!

Congratulations!!! Wow lots of movement. This is great to see.

We are delaying our trip to NYU so S can avoid failing a class (well that’s a little dramatic, but he’s stressed). So we now won’t go until 4/27. This is killing me, but hopefully it will all come together before May 1. Btw: does anyone know, do we have until 11:59 on May 1 to decide or before May 1 (11:59 on April 30). I think my S may take this down to the last second.

@MomofJ5 Haha! Love the countdown to the last second! This will literally be my S! But, a really good question. Hoping it is 11:59 pm on the 1st…reminding me of the fall deadlines which seem so long ago! Can anyone confirm?

Congrats @artskids on Guthrie. Wonderful news. And another congrats to @rutgersmom321! Feel free to PM me with any questions. My D is finishing her second year at UNCSA.

This year has been quite exciting in terms of unexpected calls and movement. So happy for everyone.

@MomofJ5 I so hear you. We had to come and fast because we auditioned in Chicago and have never set foot on Campus but it is putting my daughter in a terrible crunch with regular school! She is so stressed and some final Senior work is getting very backed up. I’ve always told not to worry as the arts are much more important than school haha. Really truly.

My son is going there too!

LOL, @laylamom, I’m the same way about the arts coming first! I told my D, “There’s only two months left of school, and the teachers KNOW you’re all doing college visits etc. - they should ease up on the work! I’m not stressing over high grades at this point - just make sure you pass everything, so you can graduate.” She’s going to miss four days of school this week to go to YoungArts, but it’s such a special opportunity, I felt it was well worth missing school for.

@actorparent1 - This year has been crazy with everything landing in April. A school talent show and a 1 week music trip. I can understand the academic teachers having their patience tested. My S is worried about having the schools withdraw their acceptances due to bad final grades. They warn the kids about that…but really how can we make this huge financial decision without visiting? (With this field, I don’t believe in doing much visiting before getting in, as that’s a recipe for a broken heart).

@MomofJ5, I hear you! That’s why I told my D to make sure she PASSES everything! Luckily, my D’s schools are conservatory programs that don’t weigh academics heavily in in the decision, and she had a 92 average before this semester (and most of her grades ARE still good, it’s just one or two classes where they’ve dropped a bit), so I’m not too worried. But I did warn her to make sure not to fail anything!

But yeah, if it’s an academic-heavy school like NYU or BU, keep those grades up as much as you can, kids!

I’m still waiting to hear about my status on the Carnegie Mellon waitlist, but I was offered a full ride, so I’m hopeful!

That is AMAZING @Ashley102399! My D is still on the waitlist as well (May 4 or May 7 seems to be the day, depending on what literature is correct). She, however, does NOT have a full ride! Maybe bus fare

hey guys! Has anyone heard or knows something about the DePaul Waitlist? Thank You.

The past few days have been a whirlwind – My S got an acceptance call from UNCSA! (He had written them off as he was on the WL and had several other offers.) The call came Friday evening. We cancelled a flight to St. Louis to visit Webster on Monday. Booked a flight & hotel, rented a car, and dashed to NC on Sunday. He had a great visit yesterday – audited several classes. Last night we both attended a full rehearsal of Romeo & Juliet that the 3rd years will be performing with the Raleigh Symphony. It was incredible.

His top three had been (1) Texas State Acting (2) SUNY Purchase and (3) Webster Acting. – I’m pretty sure UNCSA just changed all of that! Decision in the next two days!!!

@STHmom. Wow, what a whirlwind! I am so excited for you. Good for you, for fitting in yet another visit and flight to aid your decision. My D will reach out to your S.
Full disclosure, UNCSA was always on my D’s short list, but since she received her acceptance, absolutely every thing we learned about the program has confirmed it is the right fit for her. The instruction is top caliber; each instructor is highly skilled in their craft, passionate, and cares about each student. The stage combat guy literally wrote the book on Stage Combat. The new Dean Scott Zigler (look him up), will be teaching the freshman Meisner. These are unique opportunities. The Film School is nationally ranked and UNCSA actors have the opportunity to be in the student films, and many end up with material for a quality reel. The school is also incredibly deliberate in selecting the class.

Isn’t UNCSA the one that accepted a student and then rescinded the offer? And then called a kid they had rejected and offered them a place, skipping the waitlist? Are acceptances for them this bizarre every year?

Has anyone still not heard back from TXST BFA Acting? It feels as if my son has heard back from every school he auditioned for except TXST. Any help?

I’m sure I’ll be joining the last second club!

Congratulations, @STHMom!!! Such fantastic news!!!

@NYDreammom We actually just got back from NYC where we went to Admitted Student Days for a bunch of schools, and we finally got to tour New School, ask all our questions, sit with the heads of the Drama school, etc – really great to finally have all the info! At the end of the day, Bailey didn’t feel that it was the right place for her, but it seems like a very cool place and I’m glad that we’re no longer comparing apples to the absence of apples, so to speak

@STHmom - Congratulations to your S!!!
@DoinResearch - I would be happy to welcome you to the last second club!
