I loved Tisch and so did my daughter. It is world class training. It was hard to let go. I think it’s an amazing program! I have missed the hate but sometimes I miss big chunks of threads. Amazing program - wonderful school…best city in the universe!
I know my D would have loved to attend Tisch (if we could have afforded it-but we couldn’t so she didn’t apply!) But had it been an option- she likely would be there!
Chiming in - probably unnecessarily! But every school is different & every child is different!!! My older D (the MT) absolutely LOVED Wright State - she graduated last spring (and now lives in NYC - PM me if you have questions haha). I am a huge cheerleader for that program. We think it is amazing!!! BUT, current D, the actor, would not audition for Wright State (she applied, but canceled her audition!). The school was not at all what she was looking for. Perfect program for one, not for the other. D1 hated a school that MT people rave about. D2 is on the WL for a school that she would love to attend, but D1 wouldn’t even consider. She wanted to LEAVE (I made her stay!) one audition for a top school, that absolutely wasn’t for her. Bottom line - your child has to find the right fit for them. I take much of what I read with a grain of salt, and I PM often, probably more than I post.
I think most of the programs are great. actually all are, it depends on what you’re looking for. I think Tisch carries a great name and they do have a great program. I also am grateful to see that some who haven’t been accepted anywhere but Tisch still gets to attend a great school. No 1 program is for Everyone. I don’t think anyone is putting any school down. I like to read the pros and cons of why someone did not choose a school. I am not partial to Musical Theatre but I attend Dramatic and comedic plays often. That doesn’t mean that many others don’t appreciate but I can say that I loved Hamilton Twice and I’d see Ragtime any day It’s all about what you’re looking for. No one is putting a school or a program down. No program is for everyone. If it were, Performing Arts would be Awful
@robinmom congrats to your son!
Anyone know about movement on the Carnegie Mellon waitlist??
@Ashley102399 My D is on it for acting and the email said the notifications would come 5/4 - 5/7. Maybe they will call people earlier - I am not sure. But I have not heard of any CMU movement. Are you a member of The Green Room on Facebook? That’s the place where all the news pops up as it happens. I am a parent so I am not a member, but as a student you can (assuming based on your name). Keep us posted if you hear anything!
@Ashley102399 A girl on the Hartt accepted students Facebook page got into CMU off the waitlist a couple of days ago. I don’t know if anyone else has, just passing that along.
@Ashley102399 I know someone who was notified by a phone call last week and is committing off of the waitlist for acting
@Laylamom - Congratulations to you and your D! What a ride! I am so happy for you, it just seems like the right fit and “some things are meant to be…”
For those of us in the last minute club, is the decision BY 5/1 or ON 5/1?
I am pretty sure you have all day on 5/1!
I told my D that I want this decision made and deposit done by Monday night. Because I can just picture us waiting for the very last second on May 1st, and then our internet stops working, or there’s a computer glitch and we get an error message, and we’re panicking and freaking out! That just totally WOULD happen to us, LOL. So for the sake of my sanity, she needs to make a decision by Monday night!
@actorparent1 :)) that would happen to me! If it were to happen to someone, The Universe would choose me always
DePaul Sent my kid a Happy 18th Birthday Card (it’s Friday). a Big one via snail mail. It’s the little things you know? Even if it’s a marketing tool, it’s nice that it’s such a personal one :x
@actingdreams yes, those little things mean so much (usually to me more than my kid) Happy Birthday!
@actorparent1 Happened to D1. Our wireless went down for a few hours. We were about to drive down to Starbucks to hop on the wireless when it was restored. Nothing like that to get your blood racing.
@artskids - OMG! I have been so worried about that. We will finally get our last visit out of the way on Friday- but what if there is no clarity for him? This is worse than the waiting! Oh boy.
@artskids that story scares me! OK, decision by Saturday. I just know he’ll feel better once he decides.
@MomofJ5 I understand your concerns about him not finding clarity. I think I told this story before, but my D could not decide between her final 2 options. She cried for the entire month of April not sure which one was the right choice. On May 1 she had to make a decision, so she did – and then she cried, worried that she had made the wrong decision. She refused to buy any gear for the school she had chosen and was still torn until October of her Freshman year. She then realized she had made the right decision and now that she has graduated, she can’t imagine that she had ever thought of going anywhere else! The truth is that wherever he ends up, it will work for him and he will make the most of it so try not to worry too much!
