BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@SVMMom Chicago really is a great city to live in. Even with the Winters, everyone here just buckle up and keep moving as if it’s no big deal. Fall and Spring here are beautiful and Summer is so much fun. There isn’t anything that you couldn’t do here and many of the residents can do a lot of them for free.

Plus, Chicago is friendly, as far as cities go. Born in new england, I lived in Boston 9 years, LA 3 year, before I came to Chicago. The people make up for the weather.

This was my first time in Chicago. “The people are friendly” is no joke! I met a mom on day one who lives right in the city. She drove my D and I around to introduce us to Chicago, show us the best food and shopping spots and even invited us over to watch the super bowl. I will be back - in spring.

We Chicagoans love our second city. Along with all of the above, there’s a great theatre scene here. You can see really good plays most evenings in the downtown theatres, regional companies and tiny venues. Students get the best deals on tickets, too. $10 - Steppenwolf main stage.

@bfahopeful, thanks, that’s helpful

@Rizzo2 Congrats! If interested in adding your kiddo’s acceptances to a running list, here’s the link Acting Acceptances for Class of 2022 by Member Name - Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential Forums

Congrats to everyone’s call backs and acceptances, and condolences to all the rejections. In a mix of BFA/BA acting and musical theatre, my D is up 3 and down 8, with a whole bunch to go. I’m enjoying staying up to date on everyone’s fabulously talented kids. I am sure everyone will get where they are meant to be and learn how to manage the rejections that they have signed up for in this business. I’m looking forward to actually meeting cc people when the students finally select their schools.

@actingdreams he’s absolutely loves it there! Couldn’t be happier with the program and the group of talented friends he now calls family! We’ve been back 3 times since Aug and I love it every time

Thanks— will add in.

Just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed this board. Usually it’s the MT board that’s active every year, but we’ve really stepped it up over here! Wishing great outcomes for everyone!

I agree, @Twoboysandadog ! It’s been so fun having such an active Theatre/Drama board this year! I am SO emotionally invested in everyone’s journey!

Yes you are all awesome! I really am grateful to know people on this wild journey. And it is nice to follow just the actors here. MT is grueling too but now it’s helpful to be tracking the same exact journey as we come down to the wire. Omg this board will see a lotta action over the next two months. Here we go!!!

“emotionally invested” is exactly how I feel as well @actorparent1 and @FourStars.

The waiting is brutal. This has been an emotional rollercoaster and it feels like I’ve been auditioning :)) on top of this, our kids will be graduating in only a few short months (mine is May) we’ve got prom to get ready for, graduation, college acceptances and then BAM! They are gone :(( Can’t wait to hear some good news posted soon

@Rizzo2 re: Pace acceptances- my D got an incredibly cryptic e-mail on Friday (right in the middle of her UMich MT audition- she checked her phone after her song/monologue, before her dance call). The first sentence read “Congratulations on your acceptance to Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences.” She didn’t think it was anything, and we were scrambling to figure out if she had some sort of portal access. (note: she already got her academic acceptance and financial package for the Universirt itself). She refused to believe it meant anything. After some fishing around (and unsuccessfully getting into any portal) and rechecking the Common App, (and me looking here to see if anyone had gotten any acceptances, which was the day before you posted your question), she gets another email with clarification: that she has been academically accepted as an undeclared major to Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. So basically, it means nothing?

She did apply to MT and acting, in mid-January.

@DramaQueen219 I believe that this was sent to everyone who applied. My D received one, as well as several of her friends who applied. I thought that was very strange and we took it to mean that she had been placed in the College of Arts and Sciences (meaning she was not accepted into the Acting program). Did your D get a callback from them?

@jenniferm1973 she did not. It is my understanding (but I may be completely incorrect) that those who auditioned on MT days did not get callbacks. They said you could/should indicate to them that you would also like to be considered for acting (during the Q&A), but they made no mention of callbacks. So if there were callbacks to be had, she didn’t get one :frowning:

My daughter got that same letter and then a follow up email clarifying about an hour later indicating an admin error and that after auditions are finished acceptance letters would go out… I think it may have said in March? With the high volume of files these colleges are handling it is probably inevitable there will be glitches… at least a quick correction went out!!

My daughter did have her name posted at end of day of Pace BFA Acting audition and did the movement evaluation. Is that what you mean by call back?

D got calls from Pace yesterday (Sunday). She was in an audition so will call back today. It’s probably the start of the calls from the college - she has her academic acceptance and scholarship offer. S got numerous calls a week before any artistic decision. It was frustrating.
