Does everyone without a car really need a bicycle? Do most students have one?

If yes, then what is the best local source for a used bike? We live in Texas so will have to take care of getting the bike in Hanover/surrounding area.

Hi,

no, not everyone needs a bicycle...the campus is very walkable - everything is 10 min away tops..also the school started a system in which the student assembly buys a number of bikes for the campus..and any student can use them

cool is that something like the middlebury college program.. u get the bike use it, leave it, an other can use it etc?

It's a completely worthless program. The bikes quickly go missing or are destroyed, yet the Student Assembly keeps on blindly putting money into it.

yeah..prepschool, that's exactly what it is..i live off campus, and i use the bikes a lot..

Buy a bike, it makes life so much easier. Students sell them all the time, so you can get one in the fall. There is also Omer and Bob's which is a pretty good bike store in town.

Slipper - thanks. It sounds like he can take care of getting a bike on his own after he gets settled in. I just remember seeing bikes everywhere when we visited last summer!

cool.. can u get cheap bikes?
