Stories leaking that ND, Missouri, Nebraska and Rutgers have received "feelers" about joining the Big 10. If ND says no the Big 10 will think about adding 2 more or staying at 14. If they say yes one more school gets an invite.

List of possible schools: Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin

There was a mention of ND

Its great that the expansion is moving a long. It’s also great that the Big Ten is reaching east. The conference likely would do better without Nebraska and Missouri, I question on whether adding those schools would put a shadow over Indiana, Purdue, and specifically Iowa.

I prefer the Big 10 as it is, the only school I would ever be okay joining would be Pitt.

clf-it is about the TV network. Pitt does not help adding or expanding their market. The Big 10 wants to control the media market for athletics through the Midwest and Northeast.

Yeah, I know, it is a shame, though, I like it how it is. It would be nice for a championship game then.

I think the Big Ten already controls the athletic media market in the midwest, adding Missouri and Nebraska will probably start to over shadow former schools.
The only school currently in the midwest thats not apart of the Big Ten which the conference ( if any other schools in the midwest) may want to add is Norte Dame.

Championship, article lastly states how a championship ( with possible new members) is likely a decade off.

Cool- if ND would have joined alone I think it would have ended there. Without ND joining I thought the Big 10 was going to take more eastern teams. I thought they were going to add UConn, Syracuse, Rutgers, Maryland and BC. It is possible they had pressure to add the midwest teams Missouri and Nebraska to get the needed votes.

Possible, though I would re-state that currently the Big Ten already dominates midwest athletic media. The conference could look less appealing/ unbalance to eastern schools if it becomes even more dominated by two additional midwest schools. Nebraska and Missouri could have negative effects on schools already in the conference also.

Coolbreeze- I do not think the eastern schools care that the conference is dominated by midwest schools. Any of the eastern schools invited are going to join.

Well I do a lot of research into nearly everything that I find interest in. My short recent research on the Big Ten expansion states that none of the schools which have been offered replied. This will include the current three: Rutgers, Nebraska, and Missouri.
The Big Ten indeed is a great conference though when making a decision that faces a university athletics it takes time/ review as would a decision affecting a schools academic quality.

That is because officially no offer can be made until after 06/01/2010. This is all rumor at this point. I would bet my first and last dollar if asked they will say yes with the exception of ND.
