Hi everyone,

I'm currently a freshman at BU and I need to transfer due to monetary issues. The financial aid at BU just isn't enough to cover the huge bill and without more financial aid, I can't afford to attend anymore without putting myself into serious debt. I've already spoken to financial aid and they gave me the maximum addition to any financial aid package for any student in an extreme situation and it seriously won't help.

So, my only choice is to transfer. However, I know with the type of fin aid that I need I either need to aid aim up or down. I'm applying to my state school (which is a good school despite being a state school, and I was accepted last year and chose BU because it's a better school, and the bill to my state school is tiny compared to my bill at BU) and thinking of applying to an ivy (such as Dartmouth).

HOWEVER, my scores and gpa from high school are not that great (and I know that what you did in high school is still extremely important when applying as a transfer for sophomore year). I had a 3.6 UW and 5.2 weighted gpa and a 2010 sat and 29 ACT. My first semester college gpa is a 3.45 but BU is known for extreme grade deflation and I've heard that the average gpa at BU is a 3.04.

Should I even consider applying for transfer to an ivy? And if so, should I retake the ACT?

Thanks whoever reads this!
