Big Question

In terms of college I am very nervous.
I’ll get to the point, can a 2300+ SAT compensate for a 3.4-3.6 GPA when you are a URM at an all white school? (That sent 3 kids an ivy, but sends most kids to Rutgers/Penn state)

Is a competitive college still in the running?

Yes I believe that a 2300 can make up for a 3.4 but I wouldn’t consider it a problem if your average is over a 90. Then it doesn’t even matter.

Competitive, yes. Top? More info needed. What type of urn? How rigorous were the classes? Rank?

Competitive schools: HYPS
URM status - Black
Rigor of classes- six AP classes by the end junior year
Rank- top 15%

wow. GPA and class rank are still problematic for those tippy top school choices. URM tip is marginal here. Try to knock out a great Senior year 1st semester GPA.

Maybe not likely at HYPS but I’m sure your demonstrated abilities will land you in an excellent school. Best of luck to you.

Agree, hyps will be tough, they have their choice of top black students from this and Many countries, but many great schools will bite.

^Agreed. Without top 10%, you’re probably out of luck. Still, other top schools, especially LACs, which traditionally hurt more for diversity, will probably be happy to have you.

^ Without top 1%, you’re already poking at it with a stick pretty much.
