Big4 Accounting Salaries

I have a question about Big4 Accounting salaries. How quickly do they rise? I've heard for NYC offices for example you get like 55-65k all in entry-level and raises are around 15%/yr. Do Big4 Accounting guys generally leave, go get MBAs, and then go back to their companies ?

Basically how many years Big4 experience would you need to get to around 200k/yr total comp?

Some get MBAs while others go for the more specialized MAcc degree, especially if they haven't qualified to take the CPA yet. Tax professionals often get JDs. I would think that accountants getting MBAs try finding other things to do instead of returning to their company

Any idea about the salary things like how long is takes to get to 200k all in ? What level/how many years?

Thanks for the help.

i think only if you become partner will you make around $200k

depends how motivated you are and your work ethic, you might not ever make that if you lack either of the two qualities i listed. It's best if you are not given a time frame so you do what you want, and aren't worried about how long it takes to reach a specific salary

This may help. However, I can't verify if these are stats accurate.

Collegeboy... 200k as a partner? no way, it has too be much much higher... I'm not too familiar with accounting fields, but you can make 200k as an associate in investment banking and that's just 3-4 years out of school... but for accounting it may be different...

Partners make around a mil a year, but on average it takes 10+ years to make it.

For Big4 Accounting, I only know starting salaries and partner compensation, the rest is all grey to me. I want to fill in that grey zone.

during those 10 years, what's the attrition rate for non-partners? or in other words, what percentage of accountants in big4 accounting firms end up becoming partners?

I read online (sources not cited on the website) that 2% of those who take entry-level jobs at the Big4 become partner. Your odds are not that great, but many people just do Big4 work to resume build and then go elsewhere.

Do partners make the same amount of money regardless of region. For example, does a partner in the Seattle branch make as much as the NYC one?

Probably not. NYC is headquarters for the Big4 so I think you'd make a good deal more being a partner at the headquarters.
