I am going to be a freshman @marshall. Just thinking whether to get a bike or a longboard. any advice ?

i had both.

but given the crowds on ridge and library walks, it’s difficult to get any speed on them during passing time. the best use for both is zooming down gilman drive from the york hall area to center/PCYNH/WLH.

I have a longboard, but i had prior experience with skateboarding before going in. If you’ve never skateboarded, I would recommend a bike.

I’ve seen too many people get hurt. The hills at UCSD are pretty sick though.
*no shame in falling or walking your board if you’re not ready for a big hill.

^that’s so true. You can use either one, but I’d recommend against using a longboard if you’re not used to it (or new at skateboarding/longboarding). It’s also tough (and sometimes really dangerous) to go through price center/library walk. It’s usually jammed with people, vendors, and displays, and I’ve seen people fall a lot and hit other people :O

But generally, Marshall is a pretty good location. If you walk fast, you can make it to WLH in 10 minutes, and same for York. (:

I am a newbie in the field of XXXXXboards and I am learning it right now

I had both last year. I started off with a bike but fell in love with longboarding. Sure I’ve gotten beat up from falling alot but it’s alot of fun and it’s a great way to bond with friends (going out on random board runs at 4 AM during finals week is something you need to do)

Bike’s are nice… But I’m good enough on a longboard now that I can get from ERC to any of my classes in under five minutes. Longboards are very, very convenient and there are lots of hills you won’t want to bike up.

^^^Thanks for the info. I am happy I will be able to do the same from ERC.
