Bike Theft @ UCSD Common?

I plan to bring my bike there to exercise and get to classes, etc. I was wondering if bikes get stolen often at UCSD. =[

Hey I wanted to know the same thing.........wud nebody enlighten us?????

cooladu, we should make an anti-bike-theft club and encourage the rest of ucsd freshmans to join our force. ;-P unless someone replies on this thread =]

Let's bike-nap the bikes of all the CC'ers here once we're at UCSD......then they'll wish they HAD posted on this thread...lol.........

i think bike thefts are common at every school

lol cooladu good idea

Bike thefts do happen. My son's bike was stolen at UCSD a few weeks ago. It was parked outside the ERC dorms. If you do bring a bike bring a used one (or one that you won't be too upset if it's stolen). We bought him dorm insurance for $50/year. It has a $25 deductible. We're waiting the police report to file the claim and they are suppose to give replacement value for the bike.

Geese. I'll be bring a bike thats worth about 430 dollars. Is it possible to keep the bike inside our dorm room?

yes, my bike was stolen by the UCSD police depatment after i left it in one spot for 4 weeks (it was raining - i could not ride it) -- never saw it again ... but it was an old bike anyhow

make sure to never tie it down by anything other than its frame ... and never hop off for a second and leave it alone -- other than that, there should be no trouble

They cut the chain when my son's bike was parked outside the dorm.
