Hey everyone. Should I bring a bike? Or do the chances of bike theft outweigh those of getting to ride a bike around?

Bikes are terrifying and dangerous.

I heard that only freshmen have bikes. I'm sure it's not true, but it's very much a walking campus and you don't NEED a bike. Depends on where you live also...are you a Forbesian having to travel to the E-quad?

i'm a forbesian and i'm thinking of buying a second hand bike.
it just makes things much faster

I cough never cough learned how to ride a bike. Ahem. :o

Go ahead. Shun me now.

No need to! I'm serious, bikes are DANGEROUS.

<------- totally terrified of bikes (and yes, I can ride one)

LoL... why are you terrified of bikes? Scared of getting run over by one on your way to class?

Anything with only two wheels is just too dang dangerous. I know so many people who have had horrible biking accidents.

I say pedestrians are dangerous. I have a 40 min ride to summer classes and I feel like i'm always dodging them. With trucks at least you can see them coming out from being hedges and/or residential districts....;) Silly two-legged ambulators.

Anyone ever think of using a Segway to traverse the campus?
It would cut down travel time from Forbes to E-Quad.
Maybe Princeton's generous endowment would cover it:)

I'm scared of bikes. I fell off one once and i scraped a lot of skin off the side of my face. Bikes are dangerous!

hahaha, this thread deserves a facebook group or something!

I'm not scared of bikes but my bike was stolen when I was in eigth grade and I never got a new one (I still can't get over the theft boo)

: / tell me about it. My bike wasn't stolen but someone stuck a nail in my back tire when I was in Blockbuster. Walking home at a Californian blazing hot noon time, albeit a beautiful (as per usual) one, stinks.

i've had loads of accidents including knocking down pedestrians, losing a wheel/handlebars (while i was cycling) and going straight into a signpost while i was talking on the phone.
apart from that, bikes are great :D

I think the campus is slanting a bit, so you'd be riding uphill, downhill and all sort of other stuff to get to class :) Are skates a good idea, or is the paving too uneven?

How about getting around via scooter? Anyone scooterphobic too?

Like a motor scooter? My only worry would be it getting stolen.

mea, now that will be stolen

Ahhh, running around on campus with a scooter would be so fun. I haven't had a scooter since I was in the first grade. Good times, good times. Let's do it, mea :D
