Bills & finaid

My account balance became available two days ago, which is great news (I want to pay it early, so me and my family know where we stand budget-wise for the summer). However, the scholarship portion of my finaid wasn't subtracted from the tuition bill.

The scholarship is still there online in the finaid account, and I have the finaid document - I wonder if it is the "official", final, finaid confirmation I need? I'm an international student, so I'm unsure of whether I need to send in extra documents. There's been no mail asking me for anything beyond what I've already provided.

Will this sort itself out over the next few days or do I need to call the finaid office up, and ask whether there's a glitch or some document or another I still need to provide or be given? The deadline is August 1st, and I'm leaving the country in a couple of weeks. I know it shouldn't matter since it's all electronic, still, I feel some worry-wartishness coming over me.

Anyone have any experience with how the billpay system and finaid works?

Keep in mind that the e-bill/e-pay system works on a semester basis so only half of your Yale scholarships will be deducted from the July statement. If the scholarship to which you are referring is an outside scholarship make sure that Yale has received payment from the company, sponsor, etc and that it shows on the e-bill/e-pay. Also the amount you pay is located all the way at the bottom although I don't think this is the problem that are you speaking of. You should e-mail the financial aid office if you have non-pressing questions as they respond in a few days but if it is truly pressing give them a call I'm sure they would be more than happy to help.

Yes, I know only half the total scholarship is applied per semester, and I actually already knew what my balance would be (scholarship deducted) since a friendly finaid officer went through the process with me (they thought the student loan offered by my country was a scholarship, so we cleared that up via email). The sum matches the number I was given then, only plus the sum of the scholarship that's supposed to cover it.

How does the scholarship show up in other people's account statement? Is it stated?
