Binghamton or Boston?

I have been lucky enough to have been accepted as a transfer to several fine institutions. At the moment I am considering Boston University and Binghamton University.

I plan to major in Economics.

Financial Aid:

Bing: 13,390 (20,890 including federal loans and work-study) with a COA of about 27k. Thus it would cost ~13k a year to attend.

Boston U: 57,445 (63,000 with federal loans) with a COA of 72k it would cost around 9k to attend.

Bing is close to home which is the only reason why I am considering it. If any of you can provide any insights regarding either of these colleges, please let me know.

(I am still waiting on Vanderbilt University, Columbia University, Brown University, NYU, Hamilton, and GWU)

It would be helpful to know what you’re looking for.
What school are you leaving? Why are you transferring?

BU for two reasons:

First: BU econ is highly ranked, 11th vs 98th for Bing https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.usecondept.html

Second: $4K/year savings.

If you like both different environments equally, it’s pretty straightforward to choose the r1 research uni with the Econ chops for less money. I don’t care about rankings. But BU is a really strong school.

If you hate an urban campus and the Red Sox make you break out in hives or something. Lol. bing would be awesome too
