Fordham V. Binghamton

Hello,
I am currently a student at fordham lc, and got accepted as a transfer to binghamton.
In Fordham, I live at home, and I am not happy with how my first year of college has gone at all. I feel if i transferred out to bing, (which is ranked higher then fordham on certain websites) it would be a better fit, and i would get the campus that i always wanted. Any suggestions?

Seems like a great idea. Binghamton is wayyy cheaper than Fordham for in-staters. It is much higher than Fordham in rank BTW (check the College Board’s background information on what kinds of students get into Fordham v. SUNY Binghamton…let’s just say that there’s some shenanigans going on with very under-qualified students with VERY bad GPAs slipping into Fordham U, and Binghamton does not take that kind of crowd). I mean, hey, if you could get into Binghamton, then why not?

I wholeheartedly believe Fordham is a wonderful place to live and learn–that is, if one can afford to live on the Rose Hill campus and fool around in NYC.

Binghamton isn’t a better school for certain, but it’s New York’s flagship university.
You’ll save a lot. You’ll have the traditional college experience. You can finally be independent.

You should do it.

I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Binghamton. I am a current sophomore here, and I really love that the school has a campus. Coming in as a freshman, it was important to me that the college I choose have a campus, and a student body I relate well to. The people here are smart, the professors for the most part are good, and while I can’t rave about the food, I have truly enjoyed my experience here so far!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

KWU,

I have many sources that state BU is higher up than FU,
such as:
forbes: fu at 343 and bu at 202
college.mychances: fu 223 while bu 214
top univerities and colleges in noth america: bing 96 while fu doesnt even make the list

Is Binghamton SUNY a good school for students that are undecided bout their majors?

Dear Pinky:

You choose your sources rather too selectively so as to support your notion that SUNY Binghampton is “superior” to Fordham University. Apparently you forgot to review the influential US News, which ranks Binghampton 86th among national research universities.

The same report ranks Fordham University at 53.

Elsewhere, Washington Monthly ranks Binghapton at 79 and Forbes lists the school at 197.

By contrast, Washington Monthly ranks Fordham at 37 and Forbes lists it at 162.

I am neither a student nor an alum of Fordham, and I have no vested interest in the school. My daughter has just begun her undergraduate studies at SUNY Stonybrook.
